In your teens, it's sink or swim

In his head, 15-year-old Oliver Tate is a cool literary genius, though the reality is something quite different. Fearing that his mother is having an affair with her old flame, Graham, Oliver uses his parents' bedroom dimmer switch to monitor their sex life; meanwhile, Oliver attempts to woo his bossy, pyromanic classmate, Jordana. Oliver's two goals this summer are to save his parents' marriage and to lose his virginity.

A quirky, clever, fresh original film that tells the story of the real difficulties facing teenagers today; bullying at school, self doubt and relationship issues. Described as a comedy / drama but I'm not sure that combination worked. It is a well produced film with some good performances but a little bit arty so may not be for everyone.

We were really looking forward to this as we both enjoy English comedies, this was English but as for comedy ? I was really disapointed, it reminded me a bit of Adrian Mole from years ago,but even that was more entertaining than this, it was slow and didnt hold our concentration. Having lived in UK i dont think it was very real to life either.Doubt i would watch it again, unless snowed in.

My husband and I watched this last night. I am a bit suprised that it is classified as a comedy as I certinally wouldnt call it that. More like a drama?. I cant say that its a brillant, but it is watchable. It is a bit slow in parts but its the kind of movie that you keep watching anyway. Its good if you want to sit down and watch something that you dont have to think much about.
