The Royal Jewels

Throughout history European royal families have been known for their great wrath, often displayed in extravagant and beautiful jewellery. Today some of these monarchies no longer exist but their impressive jewellery lives on, still worn by the remaining royal families

This two part documentary tells the fascinating story of these jewels and of the human destinies the entwine. The jewels have been stolen and resurrected as copies. They have been given as dowries and used as cure for bad consciences in broken engagements. They have been hidden beneath women's skirts and smuggled out of chaotic countries. And some are still buried in the woods in Siberia.

These are stories of power, love, triumph, tragedy and honour.

Includes rare archival footage, and interviews with members of the Danish and Swedish Royal Families.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I sat down to watch this documentary but I was pleasantly surprised by it. It was really interesting and I loved seeing the Danish and Swedish royal families and learning a little of their history through the jewellery. If you want to have some time out and sit down to see some amazingly huge, shiny, beautifully made jewellery and learn something at the same time, then you should definitely watch this documentary. I enjoyed it and will be passing it on to my mum and friends to watch.

At first i thought this was not going to be something that i would particularly enjoy, however as the documentary went on i found myself rather interested by it all,i was expecting it to be about the british royals and their jewels, however was a nice surprise to learn about the swedish royal families, to see their weddings, children and of course their jewels, certainly a dvd for those who love the royals, for me i learn't some amazing facts, and it was in all a very good documentary, well presented with great footage, although somewhat repetitive in places, it was worth viewing,if you love the royals, love learning, love history, then this is the dvd for you.
