Dimples - Jane McAllister

OHbaby!: As a child, what did you want to
be when you grew up?
Jane: A mother - and now I have 14
children!
OHbaby!: Do you ever feel "mummy guilt" about
spending time working instead of with your children?
Jane: Yes, but I always make time for my children
and work around their needs. And I really enjoy what I do.

OHbaby!: What do you do to get
"me-time"?
Jane: The only time I
have to myself is when my children are in bed and all the work is
done - then I get out a good book or play scrabble. Sometimes I sew
samples, which I really enjoy.
OHbaby!: What is the smartest thing you have done
with your business?
Jane: Opening my own flagship boutique in
Newmarket.
OHbaby!: What's the biggest mistake you've made,
and how was it resolved?
Jane: Being talked into investigating offshore
manufacturing. It was resolved by deciding we would rather support
other New Zealand businesses and stay New Zealand made.
OHbaby!: What is your favourite thing about the
business now?
Jane: Designing new fabrics and ranges, the
feedback we get, and producing a quality product.
OHbaby!: What is the best advice you were ever
given as a mother?
Jane: Take one day at a time - what's a problem
today, won't be a problem tomorrow.
OHbaby!: What is the best advice you were ever
given as a businesswoman?
Jane: To be successful, be passionate about what
you do.
OHbaby!: What are your best tips for getting out
of the house on time?
Jane: Make sure everything is organised the night
before and get up really early.
OHbaby!: Who is your superhero?
Jane: My dad.
