Health and wellbeing
If you are planning pregnancy you need to give you and your baby
the best and healthiest start in life that you possibly can. In
order to do that, you must take special care of yourself and your
diet even before you are pregnant.
Diet and exercise are vital to your health, your future baby's
health and your chances of getting pregnant. Eating at least three
solid meals a day, balanced with foods from each of the four food
groups is a good start. While, keeping your intake of sweets,
preservatives, animal fats and highly-processed foods to a minimum.
It is very important to make sure you have enough folic acid in
your diet to reduce the risk of birth defects such as spina
bifida.
Regular exercise will also help your body to cope better with
the strain of pregnancy and later of labour and birth.
Tip: The best way to gain the maximum effect of
a healthy diet is to match it with a healthy lifestyle. By this we
mean regular exercise and healthy thinking!
