Your body after baby
Most mothers-to-be take for granted that their bodies will
change during pregnancy. After all, your body has to adjust to
growing a whole new human being, and providing all the nutrients
that human being needs to grow, it's no wonder everything
changes!
But many new mums are surprised by the changes in their bodies
once baby is finally born. You might expect lochia (postpartum
bleeding) and for your breasts to change shape and size as your
milk comes in and breastfeeding becomes established, but the
pregnancy books often forget to mention the REALLY freaky stuff
like passing blood clots, stinging when you pass urine, lingering
stretchmarks and nasty afterpains.
We asked some of the mums in our OHbaby! online community to
share what most surprised them about their post-baby bodies, and
here's what they said about their saggy marshmallow bellies,
their leaky, engorged breasts, their new
body, their wildly fluctuating hormones, and of
course, the REALLY yucky bits!
