Hi everyone
I really hoped I would never have to post in this thread again....but it seems luck isn't on my side again

I am 8 weeks pregnant with twins but unfortunately this pregnancy is not going so well. At my last scan on Monday they could still see the two sacks which are growing slowly....but nothing inside them. And no heartbeats which should be there by now. Still the radiologist wont confirm a failed pregnancy because of the small amount of growth. They sent me off for more bloods (what that will tell them I don't know) and now I am in limbo land. I feel they are trying to give me hope which is really nice of them....but it doesn't help and actually makes the whole process a lot harder than it has to be.

I was really hoping for a natural miscarriage this time round but time is ticking on and I can see a D&C looming. I am nervous about getting a D&C because it took me a year to fall pg after my last one. I am 40 now so time is not on my side. I just wondered what your thoughts are between the two?   A natural m/c could drag on for ages....I have my DD 1st birthday party next weekend so god forbid if it happened then (30 people over for afternoon tea!). A D&C would make this crappy time end quickly....but waiting a year to get UTD is not ideal. Im in a bit of a pickle!

Im so sorry to hear that you are having to go through this situation again!

I had a D&C last Feb and it is such a crap thing to go through...however we fell pregnant again in April with twins! Which we call our little miracle as their isn't any fraternal twins in our family.

I just wanted to say that i hope that next time it all happens quicker for you and that you get to have another bundle of joy for your family.

to you & family, so sorry to hear you news.

I had my m/c at 13 week & decided to go the natural way.

I would strongly suggest you speak to the dr & get the full run down on what to expect, then you can decide what is best for you.

All the best.

I can understand why you are nervous about a D&C. Isn't there a pill you can take to hurry the miscarriage up? I've been reading a bunch of miscarriage support sites, so I don't know where I read about it, but it's out there. Can your GP prescribe it?

hi babygiraffe, I'm so sorry that you have m/c'd again... totally know the feeling and want to send you support and big hugs

I have had d&c's after all 3 m/c's - I've never had any symptoms to indicate that I'm m/c'ing so haven't found out until my scans. After 1st m/c I waited 2 weeks to m/c naturally and nothing at all happened and there were no signs it was going to happen soon. I spoke to GP and was told it could happen in days, weeks or in some cases longer - it absolutely did my head in... so since then I've always opted for d&c to preserve my sanity a bit. Luckily though I have never had a bad experience and the hospital staff have been really kind and empathetic which helps.
After all m/c's it's taken 5 weeks for my AF to return after d&c and I have gotten UTD after 3 cycles from 1st m/c and 4 cycles after next 2 m/c's. I have always asked the hospital specialists if there is any less chance of falling preg after d&c and have been told that there isn't and that it is common for ladies to have to have a d&c after natural m/c anyway as often not everything is passed. Hope that helps, feel free to pm me if you'd like to.
Take care xxx

Firstly i am so sorry to see you back in here babygiraffe.
I decided to wait for mc #3 my naturopath gave me some herbs to help things along it took 10 days of taking them to mc though so by no means a quick way out. If you ask the doctors I'm sure they will tell you a d&c shouldn't hinder your future fertility personally though I felt my hormones were all out of wak after mine I ended up at a naturopath a few months after mine because of this and she gave me some herbs to help this and not sure if it was a coincidence but I was UTD next cycle, so maybe something to consider if you do go the d&c way?
I hope DD's 1st birthday goes well and this doesn't put too much of a downer on the day.

Thanks for all your posts. I have just got back from a visit to my doctor....who sent me for another scan and did more bloods as the hospital wont do anything unless your hcg levels are falling. Scan people have confirmed failed pregnancy - no growth from last week. Even though I was expecting it fully, I still wanted to cry and cry. Fark why do I have to keep experiencing this. And now twins?
After having a day of bleeding yesterday, it tapered off last night....but it seems to have cranked into gear again now. Feeling very crampy and sore. Crossing fingers for natural m/c but if I have to have a D&C then so be it - just want it to be over.
Congrats on your pregnancy redtulip! I hope things are going well for you.
Didi nice to hear from you - hope you are enjoying Motherhood. They are such precious little miracles aren't they.
Take care everyone...

babygiraffe, yup, it's just really unfair for you to experience this again and my heart hurts for you... can totally understand the wanting for it to just be over - stay strong and be very kind to yourself.
Thanks for the well wishes too. xxx

Hi babygiraffe, just an update... went for my first scan at 4pm today and saw a yolk sac but no bean/heatbeat... feeling very, very much like you are right now. Really pi**ed off that I'll have to go thru all the motions of more bloods and another scan to confirm the obvious. I know there is no way my dates are wrong so had a bloody good cry too. I haven't had any symptoms/signs that this was happening... in fact hcg still rising last Thursday and boobs still really sore. But last 2 m/c's were the same so really have zero hope left at all for this preg. So now my heart's hurting for the both of us, I'm 40 later this year so I'm hearing you on every level right now. Wish I had the answers, you'd be the first person I'd share them with xx

Oh Redtulip I'm so sorry your scan wasn't more conclusive and you are left hanging. My heart absolutely goes out to you, I so know how you are feeling right now. You so don't deserve this, you have been through enough. Is your hcg still doubling? I really thought that if that was going up then you were all good. When will they scan you again? That's such a shame - I'm so sorry you have to go through this again. And it just makes it so much worse when you can hear your biological clock ticking in your ear - I totally understand that.
At least I knew from day dot that things probably were going to turn to custard with me - makes it a bit easier to stomach.
I'm off to hospital at 9.30am - they will make a call when I get there so hopefully my sh*tty journey will be over tomorrow. And then try again. Shame I cant help thinking that this journey to give our little girl a brother or sister might not be as easy as I think.
At least I have one though - I am so grateful for that.
Take care redtulip, I'm thinking of you - pm if if you feel like a chat. I always find these forums so helpful, no one else understands. Unless you have been through it. Keep positive, you just never know - I'm crossing my fingers and toes for you. xxxx

Thanks Didi
I opted for the medical management so have taken the first pill, have to go back on Thursday for the next pill. In hospital for the day. 15% of women miscarry on the first pill so hopefully that will be me. Otherwise back to hospital I go. This miscarriage thing with a toddler is tricky! More time off work for DH and worrying about who will take care of our wee girl. Sigh...
Redtulip how are you going?

Hi babygiraffe... Have always wondered about the pill and how it worked so thanks for the insight. Heard from the RPL clinic this morning and the nurse said that the scan report didn't look promising at all. Happy she was honest, just want people to tell it like it is. So she has faxed a scan form to the radiologist near home and they can't see me til next Wed. Really need to try see someone sooner but guess everywhere will be closed tomorrow being Waitangi day. Will phone around on Thursday and see if I can get an earlier appt. Feeling much more accepting of the situation today tho - don't have to like it but if I can just accept it and move on it's less damaging to myself and for DH too.
I can imagine it's a struggle with your wee girl during this time too, and of course for your DH. I really hope that the first tablet works for you so at least the physical aspect is over for you. Take care of yourself.

Babygiraffe, I miscarried at home after taking the first pill (unfortunately ended up in hospital and got to take the rest of the pills). Hope you've got lots of support and someone to look after you, and your toddler too x

Hi LG.....how come you ended up back in hospital? I've had some moments of feeling very very sore this afternoon and and thinking things were happening but now its tapered off again. I feel a bit nervous about all this - not sure what to expect.

Redtulip I am SO sorry you are going through this again. It just isn't fair. You have had such a rough road - I really hope your specialists can shed some light on things for you. Its a lonely time, I know that much. Take care of yourself - I am thinking of you and sending you lots of love and strength x

Hi ladies, I would like to share my natural MC story to hopefully make someone feel less scared as mine wasn't that bad at all.

I found out there was no heartbeat at 6w3d last week - noticed a bit of brown discharge around the same time, which slowly turned into bleeding, similar to a period, but with chunks of stuff periodically coming out.

About 3 or 4 days later it got heavier with cramps (usually I don't get cramps during periods). The cramps got progressively worse, so I had to leave work this Thursday afternoon as I knew what was coming after doing all the research on Google. It wasn't bad enough for me to need any painkillers - a hot water bottle definitely helped though.

Finally, a couple of hours after I got home I started experiencing worse cramps, and as soon as I ran to get some Nurofen, I felt a rush of blood. I ran to the bathroom, where quite a bit of blood came out along with what felt like a golf-sized ball of stuff (I didn't want to see it so didn't look). More blood came out. Immediately I felt A LOT better mentally and physically - the pain was gone.

This was 3 days ago. I'm still bleeding, no cramps. Mentally I feel like I'm back to my normal happy self - I am definitely enjoying drinking coffee/eating all the food I couldn't have before, and that makes me feel heaps better :)

I just wanted to say that I'm thinking of all of you that are going through this right now - and don't be frightened. Take care, let your bodies heal - and hopefully a few months later, we will all be able to conceive again and have beautiful babies x
