Hi Merrily

Hugs Soda, it sounds like you have had an awful time on clomid this month. Hopefully the big O will take place and magic will happen xxx
Thanks for the good wishes Hug, I'm staying hopeful but pretty realistic... with our stuff this IUI really only has a 3% chance of working.  urgh! FA phoned yesterday to see how I was going and I already asked them about changes for the next cycle. We are allowed up to four follies (we always get two on 50-75 mcg clomid) so I think we will move up to 100mcg like the specialist suggested prior to this cycle. We have also asked questions on DH's samples as having to give two with a very quick turn around was quite a shock for him.

In the mean time, just cruising. My big boy is meant to start school on the first day of second term but his teacher told me to drop him off Monday morning as he is well ready and very relaxed on his school visits. So our first born starts school Monday. wow! He has had his last day of kindy yesterday but will have his happy school days leaving party on Wednesday next week.  I hope all the emotional hormones that have been making my eyes leak stay under control ;-) Master nearly five has bone growth delay so is the same height as his nearly four year old brother. This means he is at least 10cm shorter than everyone else in his class at school. His uniform is just adorable :-)
TTC our 3rd child 5+ yrs. Self-funding. Over 55 medicated cycles. 3 m/c's iuis, ivf with ICSI fresh BFN, 1 FET BFN. PCOS horrible. Endo and adhesions from c-sects resected. DH few wrigglers. FAITH!

awww your son sounds soo cute HT! hope he has a blast as school- im sure he will! and 3% is still something- if YOU are in that 3% then thats all ya need! Big smile
did my day 9 bloods today and they are already at 349 which is good considering ive possibly got another 9 days until i ov! so the nurse said no more bloods just lots of Bding once hubby is home and progesterone bloods on the 8th when ill also start pessaries which sound icky but ill do it lol.
I also asked about my ovarian reserve bloods i got nearly 2 months ago, and she apologised and is sending the info to the doc who is going to phone me about the numbers etc. i did manage to talk her into giving me the numbers which she isnt really meant to do, but since i waited so long i kinda played on that lol. the number is 48.3, which from what i can gather is actually a really good number! (someone tell me if im wrong though!) so thats a big relief. so things are starting to look up again thank goodness Smile so now i just have to wait 3 more sleeps for hubby to return so we can get going again hehehe. makes it easier to enjoy after having a 2.5 week break from each other and no lovin lol. hey- gotta look at the positives right?
Im off dancing tonight- cant wait! hope everyone else has a good weekend ahead xxxx

Just a random question for anyone on OPK experiences...

How well do OPK's work? This is the only method I have used to track ovulation, the first time I had a positive, then I think I went 5 months without getting a positive, then 2 months in a row with positives. I told both my doctor, and the specialist about this, neither seemed particularly interested, and were more interested in the fact that my periods are regular.

Would be interesting to know others experiences. Blood tests show that I am ovulating, but that has been on months when I also had positive OPK also.

Regular periods don't always mean you are ovulating Merrily, although generally the time between ovulation and the start of your next cycle (luteal phase) stays the same each month. My LP is massive at around 18 days... it sux to wait that long. Keep tracking your OPK and join up at www.countdowntopregnancy.com or somewhere similar to actively track your cycle. Having a log of 3-6 + months establishes patterns and provides a solid base for decision making.

My understanding of OPK's is that you need to test once a day until a second line starts to show. From there, test twice a day until the second line is as dark as the control line. Also have a look at the sperm meets egg plan. In basic terms they say make love once every two days from around CD8, once you start getting your LH surge (lines on your OPK's) then make love once a day until one day past when the line on your OPK gets faded again. Generally this means you are hitting it CD8, CD10, CD 12,13,14,& 15. Lots of woman on the OHBaby site without fertility issues have fallen pregnant using the sperm meets egg plan. So it is well worth a wee google even when you have other stuff impacting on fertility.  The OHbaby forums have a charting thread. The ladies in this forum are experts with OPK's, temps, and monitoring progress. Pop over and say hi to them and learn a few tricks.

I don't temp apart from after ov... I have to trigger to attain ov so it is just a general measure of sustained high temps that I keep an eye on to see if we might have a chance.

Hey Merrily - welcome. I have never had any results from OPKs either but when I get blood tests they show I ovulate every month. My cycles naturally vary in length so ovulation for me can be anywhere between day 14-23, always made it really hard to predict! I am currently trying clomiphene though and it has brought my cycles in to a nice regular 28 days, day 14/15 ovulation.

It must be really frustrating to be in the unexplained category. Have you had your tubes checked or a laparoscopy to check for endometriosis? I know that it helped my frame of mind a lot (and hubby's) when I had a lap and they found I had endo - at least then we had an answer as to why things weren't working quite as they should and could stop asking "what are we doing wrong?"

hi all, just waiting for hubby to get home- yay! missed him soooo much this time around! not that i dont always miss him but its felt like a very long 2.5 weeks this trip. well i finally got a call from the fert plus doc about my bloods - and apparently i have a higher than average ovarian reserve- which is common with PCOS.. but it does mean if i get to IVF im likely to respong very well, if not be over stimulated, so they will have to be super careful and do things a bit differently to try to avoid that> was very interesting anyway to hear about it all and im really glad things are good as far as egg count goes. darn i forgot to ask her about my dwindling periods though.. never mind will have to next time. ...oh and well you remember a while back when my little miss 4 kept talking about her baby sister etc.. she went quiet for a while and now all of a sudden has started drawing pics of me with a baby in my tummy! she is also always telling me that her baby sister is going to be here on Christmas day.. (and was saying this months ago too) so today I checked out the due date calculator thingy online- and guess what... yep if i ov when i think im going to ov this cycle...my due date will be.... Christmas day! * Cue spooky music* ....lol i have one weird creepy kid! lets hope she is right   Big smile although her EDD was  Christmas Eve! so could end up with kids exactly 5 years apart lol. ahh well at this point ill take anything! soooo. guess what DH and I will be up to ALOT this week Wink lol

Not holding out much hope for tomorrow. I have had a cold with fever and chills for the last couple of days. I also got all achey and have a coldsore for the first time in I can't remember when. Oh well, it will happen when the stars align ;-)

Good luck today HT, I so hope you get that dream call x
Soda, not sure about the pills, I've always had the utrogestan pessaries... If you're unsure if give the dr another call to clarify so you've got time to change them if needed.

Hi everyone, sorry I've been mia lately. Have been trying to keep my mind off TTC as we waited for the laparoscopy appointment. I'll catch up properly later but in the meantime...

Soda, yay for your husband coming home. 2.5 weeks is ages! I find even a weekend hard. Great news on the AMH too and fingers crossed for a Christmas baby x

HT, goodluck and have been thinking of you.

Bambeana, I wasn't sure whether to post what I (think) I know about an SA as I'm not a doctor but like everyone I hate waiting for analysis of results too.

From our analysis form they have the normal reference range to be:

volume - greater than 1.5 ml
concentration - greater than 15 million per m/l
total motility greater than 40%
progressive motility greater than 32%

My husband has done 3 x SAs. The first one was low concentration (about 9 million I think) but they said not to worry as it only takes one and motility etc. was good. We decided to redo it as DH thought he had missed getting the first part of the sample (which apparently has the higher concentration of sperm) in the container and the next time it was way higher.

He then did another when we went to FA in Auckland and it was higher again.

They told us about a doctor who did his own research by analysing his own samples (weird but helpful) and they showed us a graph where they varied greatly over the months he did it sometimes low and sometimes well above average. So if concentration is a bit low I wouldn't worry about it and would just discuss it with your doctor on Thursday.

Hope that helps and all the best for Thursday!

Also, I had the laparoscopy this morning. It was way less of a deal than I thought. I was in at 9 and sitting in recovery awake by 11 and then home by 1 pm. I actually feel totally fine but tiredness may hit tomorrow!

They said everything was normal. There was tiny piece of discoloured tissue they have sent off for analysis but they don't expect it to be anything.

So while it's great news, we're sort of left wondering why with eggs, sperm, ovulation, open tubes and no other issues identified we still haven't had any luck. FA will call us next week but I think next step will be IUI.

Also, I posted a while back about whether to tell close family about what we are going through and after all your comments decided that would be a good idea for us. Best decision as they have all been so supportive and I came home today to a package in the mail with mags, choc and other goodies for my recovery.

Hope everyone else is doing well x

so im speechless... Fert plus werent meant to send me provera AT ALL! and i am meant to be on the pessaries. going on a 10 day course of provera at that time in my cycle would likely create a miscarriage if i were to get pregnant. SO mad at them for getting something so wrong! lucky i didnt just trust the system and take the pills, and followed my gut and phoned them.. man this makes me want to get as far away from the medical system as i can!  Confused

Amie - glad your lap went well, good to be found healthy (though frustrating not knowing why you're not getting preg).

Bambeana - sorry to hear of your hubbies low sperm count - similar result to what my husband had 6 years ago. It means the odds each cycle are less, though there is still a chance (we got preg twice, though miscarried once)

Soda - gah! That's pretty dreadful of fert+, I hope they were very, very apologetic!!

Amie - great to hear your lap went well and you aren't feeling too bad; totally understand your frustration in not finding a "reason" tho. Still, better to be crossing possibilities off the list.

Soda - I can't believe your clinic made such a big mistake - thank god you asked them before taking the pills!!!

Hi all
Thanks for all the hopeful and supportive messages team Hug Sorry to leave you hanging so long today. It has been a massive day and I have been working right up to now.
Unfortunately the phone call this afternoon just confirmed what I felt... BFN. Because I was expecting it, I am doing well. Our specialist phoned this afternoon to say he wants us to up the clomid this month so we are now in the hunt for 3-4 follies for IUI. Heck! Scared much! What if they all take!
I now just have to wait for period to arrive... argh! having a LP that is up to 18 days long really blows when you know that your aren't pregnant already.

OMG Soda, I thought when reading your post that Provera was meant to bring on bleeding but then just assumed I must be mistaken. I am so happy you have picked up on this before it was too late. Bah! Sometimes the medical profession (and far more often than is comfortable) are just stupid!

How are you all doing?
Hugs to Aimee... go you for being so great recovering from your lap. Take it easy tomorrow as your internal bruising will kick in xx
Hi Charlie, how you doing?
Hi Mushroom, where you at sweetie? How are you doing with your grief this week?
Hi BC how are you doll?
What's the gas Star? Are you well?
Yay for sa Bambeana... we are still trying to figure out DH's too, his SA on the day of our IUI was way different from his SA too. Specialist wasn't worried about it though so we will most likely have another two part contribution this cycle coming too.

Big hugs and loves, I'm off to bed. I have had a bad lurgy over the last couple of days, with the coughing keeping me up. Looking forward to seeing the back of my eyeballs tonight :-)

That is really nice of your family to send you goodies Aimee. Rest up and I hope you have lots recorded telly to watch for the next few days or a good book.

HT-I'm sorry it was BFN. I have friends who did Clomid and had twins. Why do they do IUI even if there is sperm?

I am so confused.

I think that there is good stuff in the SA, there are positive results that we can see but the MAR section is confusing us.

WE got some clarification with the MAR results. We have 100% binding of antibodies on the sperm. I am devastated. I was so sure reversal was the option to take and $10,000 later it isn't. I hate this.
