Thanks for your support everyone. A bit calmer about it now. I was just hoping that if they had made it to blasts then surely 1 of those blasts must have been normal. But no...I'm just so thankful for my 3 year old little boy. I can't believe he turned out ok with all the odds stacked against us.

Will meet with Dr in a couple of weeks and see if we can get funding for a second round. I don't know if I can do it all over again though.

hi everyone, I think I'm all cried out now. I have been going to work and locking myself away, just trying to keep my mind busy, the hard thing that I am struggling with is that I have such bad morning sickness, yet I know that inside I have a 7.5week old foetus (I hate that word so let me say baby) that's heart will probably stop beating this week. it's just so cruel and the sickness is a constant reminder of how close we came. the only thing I am holding on to is that if the heart rate is slow that's due to a chromosomal abnormality, which isn't a good thing and just not meant to be. I saw emotion from hubby last night for the first time, felt so helpless, but am slowly realising that if I (we) can get through this, then having another IVF round isn't totally out of the question.

can I ask you all your thoughts on D & C vs natural miscarriage, what do you think the best (if there is a best) option is?

Huge hugs Rosey.
Personally when I found out my twin pregnancy had ended at 8wks I chose the d&c purely because I didn't want to wait. By the time I had it I'd already gone two weeks after knowing it was over and nothing had happened. The bummer is that you have to go under general but the plus was the physical pain was minimal as was the bleeding etc and it was over with pretty quickly. In saying that I haven't gone through a natural miscarriage so I can't really compare.
Such an awful thing to being through regardless xxx

*hugs* Rosey. I know how hard this time is for you. For us, we chose to wait to miscarry naturally. I waited two weeks for this to happen, which felt like an eternity. Also, ended up in hospital with a D&C in the end as I didn't miscarry fully and just kept on bleeding (lost around 1.5L of blood). Took me another 2 weeks to recover from the blood loss. Because of my experience I'd definitely go for the D&C right away if it happens again, but everyone is different.

sorry Rosey, that things have not gone well. I elected to have a d and c rather than natural just because I have had a natural one before and it was painful and took a while. Also very confronting when you are faced with seeing the little fetus/baby. I also was freaked that it might start when at work and really didn't want anyone aware.
Whatever you choose it is hard, my thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

Thanks so much everyone, I think my mind is made up and D & C it is. I never wanted to experience a miscarriage, it just sounds so horrendous, but it is what it is. thank you for all your kind words of support, talking to close friends is so different to venting on here, it makes a big difference having you all to ask advice and get support xxxx

Rosey you can ask them to keep as they call it 'the products of conception' (ugh so clinical sorry!!) so if you felt like you wanted to do something special you could. I personally didn't but it's up to the individual. When's your next scan? Have they done any other testing if they suspect chromosome issue?

Rosey just wanted to give you all my support. I am almost 2 months on from our last miscarriage at over 9 weeks. I really feel for you hun.

I really wanted a D&C but was talked out of it by the consultant doctor at the hospital and he made my hubby scared about it.

Just want to tell you that if you feelings are towards a D&C, you stand up for yourself. I had the Misoprostol (the 'in-between' way). I still had to go back and have a D&C.

Trust your gut honey. So sorry. I know the feeling of waiting after being told of a slow heart beat, its pretty rough.

Oh i'm so sorry Rosey!! Just go with your gut. I had misoprostol with my twins at 9.5 weeks but ended up needing 3 doses and still had retained product and didn't complete till 2 months later so spent weeks getting scans, bloods, looking back I'd wished I'd done the D&C however I felt I needed to experience the miscarriage to accept I had lost them. There's no right or wrong everyone has their own reasons so just go with what you feel is right for you. Thinking of you.

First setback for me with this round, finally in the stimming stage and bloods are showing I'm not responding well sigh! My estrogen levels are low so on higher dose now and more bloods and a scan Fri.

Does anyone who's a client at FA know if they do TUNEL Sperm testing? I see Repromed does, but I've not heard anything about it from my Dr.

Don't think FA do that test, they advertise they do:
Sperm Chromatin Structure Assay’ (SCSA) test
to test for sperm fragmentation as they state it's the most reliable (they're both DNA fragmentation tests - only test my hubby hasn't done!)

Oh I missed seeing that in their site. I reAd about it somewhere else tho. I saw the tunel one mentioned in embarrassing bodies last night lol I don't think we've had SCSA either, and now I'm kinda wondering why it hasn't been suggested.

Hey kiwigirl. I don't remember my scratching messing with my cycle. Maybe there's something in the water as my cycle is late too, it's almost unheard of for my cycle to be longer than 28days, normally about 26 but I'm up to 30 now. I have all the feelings/signs that AF is close so it's all very weird.

The scratch didn't affect my cycle at all. Maybe you have a wee little cyst that's keeping hormone levels high. Good luck. X

I just wanted to say I was thinking of you all today on Mother's Day...where ever you are in the journey. I know it's an especially hard day for me without my own mother or my own children, so I feel for those of you who are struggling today. Try to do something special for yourself. And by all means, stay off Facebook! And for those who have mothers and kids, give them an extra big squeeze today. X
