Awww AnyDayNow - I went through the exact same thing in May this year, it was awful. I also had debilitating morning sickness even though my wee bean stopped growing at 7 weeks. I found out at 7 weeks that there was a slow heart beat then 8 weeks confirmed the heart had stopped beating. I chose to do D and C just to stop the morning sickness as it was a constant reminder. I went to my GP and they booked me in within 24 hours at the hospital. it was completely painless afterwards and my body recovered pretty quickly.
Take care of yourself over the next wee while, xxxxx

So sorry ADN. We found out at our 6wk scan that it was a blighted ovum. It is gut wrenching. I had a d and c as I just wanted to try again quickly and couldn't cope with wondering how long it might take to miscarry naturally.

My advice give your self some time. I am not an emotional person and admit I was like "right these things happen,I'll be ok" a week after the d and c I just broke down and cried for the whole day. Take care of yourself

Yep I agree with Kiwi. I lost it about a month or two after my first loss over mince - random huh but I was going out and wanted DH to watch dinner, he wasn't listening and then I just lost it broke down and cried for like half hour then had to go out all red eyed.
This time round it creeps up and bites me when I least expect (as I often vent about on here).

ADN hope you are doing ok today.

HT oh right, yip I had that done. Are you thinking of getting it done?

I just got my letter for costings for my lap - and he is doing a full shibang while he's there I guess. He's doing a hysteroscopy aswell as the lap, plus any treatment of endo if needed and a D&C which I'm not sure of why?
Anyone had any experiences with this and insurance? His referral was from my fertility doctor so am wondering if they will even pay even though everything from the doctor actually doing the surgery is from his private Gynae clinic? It's a big cost and I'm just worried they won't pay. Am wondering if I call FA and ask if they'll change it to be from my GP?
Also, he has added in there 1-2 nights hosiptal stay - is this the norm and not all end up in a hospital stay?

So stressful all this stuff!

Edit: Just called FA and apparently there shouldn't be any problems with it coming from a fertility doctor

Hi Storm
All of that is completely normal. They schedule as many things as possible into the op so they can take care of anything they sight during the op. Even though the procedure is keyhole, they are actually moving many of your body parts around so you will feel a little off for a few days. Hospital stays are completely normal and although you might go home after the first night, the second night is just in case you don't feel well enough.  Often the ops are in the afternoon so by the time you come out it is near tea time and you are full of drugs and they like to keep you under observation that first night.  I don't really like hospitals so am up and moving first chance I get. My last op (similar to what you have booked) I left after doc's morning visit the next day and with my second c-section I was out in under 24 hours (might have pushed it a little there ;-).

Thanks HT. It's scary to think they are moving things around in there! Good to know though, then at least I can prepare for a night's stay in hosp and have DH and DD all organized I'm not big on hospital stays either, so hopefully the one night will be it! I'm booked for 1pm, so hopefully the night will go quickly!

Thanks everyone for all your kind words. I'm doing ok today although I spent a lot of yesterday crying! We have a "just in case" follow up scan next week if nothing moves naturally before then and I think I'll request a D&C then.

Great they're having a big old clean out Storm. My hysteroscopy was only day visit but also did a d&c at the same time just to clean it all out. Then I did my IVF the cycle after and bam utd. I swear that was the trick and I felt like my period was more 'normal' after it.
No idea about insurances (wishing I'd got me some of that now though lol).

LOL BC. I'm so pleased for insurance! Although our cover only covers 80% but in this instance that's a huge deal!

I'm certainly hopeful this will help for some unknown reason. A friend of mine was asking me last night about my pains and heavy periods(sorry TMI) that I've had big clots with, and until then I hadn't actually realised that they never used to be like that till perhaps after I had my DD, which was a normal delivery but I had placenta/uterus issues the day after. So I've no wondered if there some some underlying issue that a blood test just won't pick up and maybe a big clean out might just help! Ugh s**ks to have too much hope right!

And I don't know whether it's just because all of this is on my mind but twice in the last week I've had a dream that I had a baby. First one was me going into hospital and being in labour (probably brought on by all this hospital treatment stuff) and last night, I was out with friends, giggling my baby on my lap. Ugh - the mind plays dirty tricks on us sometimes

Hey all,

I'm back home recovering after my lap. Storm - they did a full job on me, endo removal, ovarian drilling, hysteroscopy, D&C, lipidol flush. My specialist just put down the basic lap and hysteroscopy with D&C on my insurance claim and that is fully approved (80% of cost covered).
With me, they removed endo from my bladder and surrounding tissue, and I think a bit on the side of my bowel. Have some lovely take-home photos of my liver and gall bladder etc all looking lovely lol. Graded at around stage 3 endo. Tubes looked fine though (which is pretty much as we thought). Also removed some polps from my uterus.
My op was done in the morning, just after 10am. Took around 90 mins, and I was in recovery for about an hour as I take a long time to wake up. Also have very low blood pressure initially. I just stayed the one night and went home the next morning at 10am - don't hardly sleep in hospitals (even in my own room) with everything going on and especially all the tubes (catheter in overnight! plus calf pumps to prevent blood clots/pooling). Wednesday today (op was on Monday), and I'm still feeling very beat up plus have been told not to walk any distance and can't drive whilst taking the pain meds. Specialist reckons that I have an 80% chance that the op will have fixed my pain issues though, so here's hoping!

AnyDayNow - I'm so, so, sorry honey. We went through this earlier this year too :( I think getting a scheduled D&C is a good idea after your next scan, as we waited just over another week for things to happen naturally, and then I ended up bleeding out and needed an emergency D&C at midnight after loosing over 1L of blood which made things very un-fun. Apparently that is very unusual to loose so much blood, but I'd certainly schedule one if we ended up in that position again.

Wow Mushroom. They definitely gave you a right clean up didn't they. No wonder you're feeling so banged up. Wishing you a speedy recovery hun.
What's next from here for you? (if you don't mind sharing of course).

Watched the next episode of the 'programme' tonight. Gah it's such a rollercoaster of emotions. Especially when people have their first scan after getting UTD - god it brings back so many mixed memories. Then there's all the heartache they're going through....rah! Anywho....moving on.

Good to hear from you Mushroom. Hope your resting up! Sounds like you need it after all that cleaning up.

BC, I watched it last night and thought afterwards weather I should have. Gave me so many mixed feelings about our FET and what can happen. Started to frick me out a bit. Stupid emotional program! I am interested in next week though and the embryo adoption and what happends there. Thats new to me....

BC - we've decided against doing any more IVF. For us there are many factors. Partly the fact that I already have a son, and that if we were to get pregnant with more IVF we're looking at a 7+ year age gap now. And partly that having had 3 miscarriages (and the failed implantation from FET#2 which felt like an early m/c) I'm not really emotionally able to go through any more m/cs. And also partly because my veins are now completely and utterly stuffed - even the anethetist on Monday commented on my bad vein (while looking at my 'good' one!). Also have a little ptsd after my last m/c which makes me freak slightly with blood tests now whereas I used to be fine... Also, the fact that I'm coming up 35 and have other health issues make me not want to be an older mum too (plus increased m/c risk with older age too, on top of my current stats!) Anywho, we've decided after being in the TTC business for 8 years it's now coming on time to move on with life. We've bought a new 3 bedroom house we're moving into in a couple of weeks, and just wanting to start again.
There is a small chance with me having had a big clean out we might get a magical pregnancy (though obviously nothing has happened to make my hubbys fertility any better) - we'd be stoked if that did end up happening, but we're not holding our breath. And given the op will only give 3-4 mths of benefit before everything starts growing back, he'll be going for a snip next year if nothing happens to make sure I won't have to go through any more m/cs down the track.
Really looking forward to our fresh start though, with no more reminders about past dreams :)
