Could anyone tell me what supplements (not drugs) FA puts you on? Or what are you guys taking for support?

Epic traveller. I was wondering what your reasons are for preferring 2 embryos at a time rather than one?

Hi Lills, I was told to stop taking all the vitamins i was on (vitamin c, fish oil and evening primrose) but it was okay to continue on with the Elevit, and hubby was on menevit. I am/was doing weekly accupuncture - which i think has really made a huge difference.

Charlie, that's interesting. I will keep that in mind. I'm assuming you can resume those supplements once the cycle is successful? I heard that an antibiotic is taken during the course of treatment, did they advise probiotics afterwards? I've had my second session of acupuncture. I feel better already but I think that's mostly to do with the attitude I've decided to take. But everything helps, right?

Hi ladies,
thanks charlie for your positivity and I'd def prefer 1 healthy baby to having a risky pregnancy. It is reasurring to know that there are more opportunities if the first cycle isn't successful and thats what I need to keep in mind.
I can't wait to start acupuncture in september, I've heard from many people now that its had positive outcomes for them so hoping it helps me out too

Hi Ladies

Just reading all your stories and posts and I have my fingers x'd for all of you. DH and I have been TTC for 5 years next month and found out in February that he has really low sperm count, we went on the list to find out if we could get a specialist appointment but due to my BMI was a no go publicly funded but were told that our only option would be to do IVF with ICSI. So I have made it my goal to try and lose as much weight as I can to get under the 32 BMI requirement by the end of January so we can at least get an appointment to get ourselves on the waitlist. We discussed adoption this week together and investigated it but have decided that going through the IVF root we would have more of a chance at getting our little bundle than waiting to be approved for adoption and waiting to see if we get picked to adopt. I would love to know how you ladies are finding the ICSI option and if you have been successful yet. Thanks for listening :)

Hi cruzy,

Me and my husband did ivf icsi, it's our only option as my husband has azoospermia (sperm can't get out)
I was told that I was very unlikely to respond to the drugs (my fert specialist has the tact & personality of a wet fish lol) well I certainly showed him by responding quite well & had 10 eggs retrieved 😄 of the 10 eggs 8 were suitable to inject with sperm. We then got called to say 5 had fertilised yay us the next day they called & 6 eggs had divided nicely. Turns out 1 was slow to start lol by the time we were due to have the embryo replaced that late starter was the best emby & he is now our amazing 5 month old boy 😄😄😄 out of the last 5 embys 1 was suitable to freeze & we hope 2 use that early next year 😊

All n all the process was amazing & scary but so worth it, sing out if u have any questions 😄 all the best

Hi Cruzychic

Hop onto ttc for 12 months + forum. There are more of us there. I am currently undergoing my IVF with ICSI treatment now.

While you're trying to get your BMI down you could look at exploring Chinese medicine or naturopaths to try and get your husbands sperm up. You might be lucky enough to concieve naturally. Best of luck!

FET failed on third time.. got a slight HCG raise which started falling down and reached two.. chemical preg.. Specialist said no transfer this cycle.. asked to wait till next AF so that HCG settles down...

Asked him whether to go with IUI this cycle.. will know this thursday whether to go ahead with IUI or not.

@babycrazy -- fingers crossed for both of us on thursday

Hi Babycrazy.. specialist agreed for an natural IUI.. did insem last friday. now in the waiting period..preg test in two weeks.. but bad thing is as usual after the transfer caught up with a severe cold...
Also when they do FET ask for a Dr. who has loads of patience. During my first two cycles the Dr. who did the transfer did place the embryo when i was having cramps. Heard from my specialist during the last transfer that if they do transfer in middle of cramps there is slight chance of rejection. This time when he did the transfer he swabbed, waited till the cramps subsided and placed the embryo. Still my bad luck it ended up in chem pregnancy. I pray for u that it will work better this time.

Good luck for your preg test vepr. Interesting what you say about the cramping. My first FET I cramped from transfer all the way to testing and that was chemical. With my second I didn't so much and that was bfp (mc later).
Maybe not do bad having a cold - lowered immunity and all that. I'm doing Colorado protocol this time and part of that focusses on suppressed immunity. But I'm no expert!

Hi everyone, I have been reading your posts and there is a lot of helpful information here. My husband and I are also seeing Dr. Mark Stegman at Wellington F.A. My husband is due for sperm retrieval on Monday but after that I am unsure of what happens? I am sure they will explain everything at the appointment but any advise on what happens next would be great. I have had tests and everything has come back normal it is azoospermia that has put us on this path. Good luck to everyone on this journey.

Good luck with the retrieval uk kiwi 😊 my husband also has azoo & we paid for his retrieval whilst we were in the ivf wait list. They froze the sperm & from there we waited til our turn for funding came up also cuz we paid for the retrieval they managed to push us up the Wellington list a couple of months 😄 are u in the list yet?

Hi Babyshrimp. I believe we are on the list? I'm not sure to be honest? Was the retrieval very painful for your husband? When are you due for egg collection if this is what happens? Sorry for all the questions so much going on in my head

Just read your last post Babyshrimp and can see you had successful treatment, congratulations! Fertility Associates haven't really explained to much of the process or the wait times or whether I will be needing drugs to boost egg production so feeling a little in the dark. I am hoping my husbands sperm will be normal as all his other tests came back with normal readings and that it is just a blockage?

From memory we got a letter confirming we were on the list we r based in palmy & @ out consult they said after azoo diagnosis we qualified & they would write to welly's to get us on the list. My husband didn't feel 2 bad after but def take the panadol as they advise 😊
We didn't wait that long about 8 months I think. They will give u drugs to get u through to egg collection the amount needed depends how well they think u will respond. Ivf is a lot of waiting & at times u feel in the dark about what's happening but once u get started it's not that bad it found it quite good so hopefully ur the same 😄
Yup out lil man is coming up 8 months & @ 1 of my appointments in palmy that doc said I was unlikely 2 respond well we showed Him & we have another frozen emby from that first cycle 😄 any questions I'm more than happy to answer as well as I can but anything else call the nurses in wellington they're amazing

Fantastic I'm glad you had a good experience. Hopefully all my questions will be answered on Monday but you have really helped thank you. Hopefully your 2nd Embryo will be just as sticky when you decide to try again. Best of luck and congratulations again :)
