Topic: First time TTC after Depo Posted: 23 February 2015 at 1:32pm |
Hi there we are currently trying to conceive after being off injection for a year. Who has had a baby after Depo and how was your experience?
How long did it take?

Following this thread, Miss K. I was on depo for the last 7 years. Came off it Oct 2013. Got AF back in March 2014. Pretty regular, no real problems. TTC#1 since Sep 2014 but no luck so far!

Hoping to add to our family of 3 in 2017!!

I was on depo for about a year after having our son. When I came off it, my cycle went crazy and never settled down, and after 12+ months under both my GP and an OB/GYN we discovered I wasn't ovulating, which required medication to resolve and 6 months later I got pregnant. Totally the opposite experience from when I had been on depo before having my son - I was on it for 5 years then told I should consider coming off it after that length of time, which I did, and had my cycle back to normal (my normal, being 28-31 days) within 3 months. We weren't TTC back then, so less pressure for it to be normal again! So two totally different experiences for me! I won't be touching it again though.

Hi, im also keen to know about this, i came off depo in December and am now taking noriday for 6 months before ttc later this year. I have had normal cycles previously on noriday but nothing yet. I've read good and bad about ttc after depo but my gp said that cycles should return to normal after 3 to 9 months. Would love for others to share their experience of ttc after depo. Thanks :-):-)

Hi missK I was a long time depo user (about 4 years) I came off it about a year before I got married in anticipation of TTC after we were married. It took about 9 months for my AF to come back but I found it to be much shorter and lighter than before and the painful cramps I had before were also gone so I was pretty happy. We started TTC in December (about 18 months after I came off depo) and we got our BFP in January so only took us two months which was a massive shock! I am now about 8 weeks pregnant and all is going well so far. If you are worried if your ovulating ask your gp for a day 21 progesterone test which will confirm your ovulation for that month. I hope this helps.
