Hi Tulip,

If AF comes earlier, then egg collection is likely to be earlier. However, every women responds to the IVF meds differently, so the exact date for egg collection changes quite a bit regardless. Only after various blood tests/scans can they know exactly how your ovaries are responding to all the medication to perfectly time the egg collection for the best results :)

Heh - what can I say, my hormones are stuffed. My cycles this year have been 77 days, 50 days, 23 days (pill cycle), 24 days (egg collection cycle), 40 days, and now up for another long cycle. I'm seeing an endocrinologist end of next month to see if there is anything I can do. Used to have fairly regular 5-6 week cycles as a teenager, so would love to get that back! At least all my natural cycles I did eventually ovulate at some point, so have ovulated 3 times this year.

Hey guys, just saw your post above about the infertility support group in Dunedin. I started this with another person. It’s a small group (only 4 of us). It has been really great so far, and nice to compare stories and experiences. Everyone is at different stages. We are very big on confidentiality so you don’t need to be concerned about that. If you want to come you can email me on dunedinsupport@fertilitynz.org.nz. All the best ladies.

Hi Jewels, that's great there's a support group available. Unfortunately I'm 3 hours drive from Dunedin.

Hey Mushroom those are crazy cycles if you weren't TTC I guess it would be nice to not have AF for 77 days.

Hi everyone. I just found this post I started way back in 2012 and just wanted to jump in and say hello! I am amazed to see so many responses as the last time I looked there were about 5 comments!!
Since then I've had 2 rounds of IVF, 1 failed with 0% fertilisation & another 6 months later that resulted in my now 8 month old!! OFS are so wonderful - and I just wanted to wish everyone the very best on their journey. I will keep an eye on this thread again & if you have any questions ask away x

Hi Epic

That's not good, I hope the OFS nurses are kept on as they've been really good to me. I bet the prices will go up as FA is considerably more expensive than OFS.

That's what I'm worried about, we have private IVF booked for Feb! :-(

Have you already done the paper work, which also lists the prices? I would have thought if that was already signed then they would have to honour that.

The nurses told me that Barbara had said our next IVF would be publically funded, not sure if that will still happen if FA take over as we don't have enough points for public but Barbara was making an exception.

Hi Tulo- congrats and thanks for giving me hope! I'm interested that you had a cycle with no fertilization. I have just had that (private through FA in Chch) and am still in 'devastated' state. As far as I'm aware it was egg quality- lots of immature eggs and two eggs that were oversize. This was my second IVF through FA- funded through a bank loan and for latest round through a family loan- neither ideal. As we are only eligible for public round in Jan (TTC 3 years in Jan) and I will turn 40 soon, it makes me nervous that my eggs just keep getting older :/ I have no children this far, partners swimmers are very good.
What did they end up doing for you to help change things around, and how did you cope?

On the note that FA is taking over OFS I am worried that I won't be seen for ages :/ they said there would be delays! (Don't they know that time is of the essence for some of us!). Does anyone know any more than I do about wait times??

Hi Trying Trying,

Sorry your IVF didn't work out.

I think things are starting to get sorted with changeover from OFS to FA. The communication isn't good but the wait list for
IVF is moving. I was put on funded wait list earlier this year and am booked in for IVF in Feb which was sooner than I expected.

I have a free nurse consult for low AMF results. Are OFS good?

IVF in India is available at the most reasonable cost. I think for IVF treatment couple must go to India.

Overdue update in case anyone comes on and reads this thread.

It is now late November 2016 and I have just got the 'get a blood test' letter. We were given a letter in Nov 2015 to say waiting list was 8 months. So there are obviously huge delays in Dunedin wait list.

We started this journey in January 2012, and it therefore will be four long years.
My partner and I are still together, just, as the stress this has all created has been overwhelming many a time.
2 private rounds of IVF, so $28,000 spent.
1 job resignation as I couldn't cope with the stress. Now struggling with finance, so I'm not sure what stress was worst!

Looks like, and we actually hope, this round will be donor eggs as using my own is just too risky on our 'last try' as my last round of IVF produced 0 viable eggs.

If anyone has questions, please ask.
