Hi,

So I'm new to all this. Hubby (25) and I (23) would like to start trying for a baby soon. I'm coming on the pill (Ava 30ED) and have been for nearly 5years. Originally I went on the pill to help my periods, so I'm abit nervous to come off. My doctor knows we want to start trying (saw him at the start of the year) but didn't tell me how/when in the packet to stop.

Hoping someone can clarify, is it better to stop before or after the sugar pills?

I would just stop on your next period, makes it easier for timing/knowing when you will get AF next. In saying that mine were a bit funky for a few months after i stopped!

Good Luck

Hi Lizzy. The sugar pills don't do anything (they just keep you in the habit of taking a pill each day), so I'd just stop when you get to the end of the medicated pills and completely ignore the sugar pills. You'll get your normal withdrawl bleed, and then your body has to figure out what's what and start ovulating again. This can take anything from 2 weeks to a number of months, so don't worry if you don't get your period (AF) for a number of months. Every women is different, so impossible to know how you'll respond exactly. Hopefully your natural cycles will start promptly for you and you'll be able to get on to trying to conceive (TTC)!

Hi Sara and Mushroom, thanks for that. I thought that would be the case. Looking forward to the journey ahead :-)
