I ordered Zumba a couple of weeks ago & it still has not arrived. So I am going to go buy it next weekend & a friend who has it is loaning me her beginners disk till I get mine so will get that tomorrow

I go to a class on Tuesday nights it cost $7 but will try another class that is $2 & if I get stuck into it enough at home then I might flag the classes...but you work up a real sweat at them

lol yeah i think i should.

what everyones goal/reason for wanting to be here?

mine is that I want to look good at xmas time for first xmas photos (and profesh photos february/march next year for Rs first birthday)

i dont want to look back 10-20 years from now and think "eww" of myself. and i want to be able to keep up with R when he starts walking/running wanting to play outside and run around.

Posted By: jazzy
Date Posted: 09 September 2010 at 11:17am
My overall reason is to get fit & like how I look & want to keep up with my kids & not head towards an early grave cause I am overweight.

My mini goal is for xmas as we get together with the IL's & super slim SIL & I am sick of being the fat one in the photos

I haven't tried zumba yet but was thinking of going tonight. One of the kindy mums was telling me about the local classes that are about 5 minutes away from my place so no excuse

We are off to Fiji in November so need to do something about then wobbly bits around my middle

Before I had the girls I used to do body combat which I loved but the gym timetables don't fit with my current schedule at the moment.

MT are you getting your DH to do this diet with you?
My DH wants to lose a bit & he always says he wants to but can not seam to commit so I am going to sort him out

he is 130kg atm - hes lost 8kg but built muscle with going to the gym - but his gym is the one i used ot go to and is $40 for a PT session and i cant afford it.

but yea he is on board with the diet. its our flatmate that isnt cos he runs 20km every morning and eats a ton of fruit every day so sees dinner as his fat portion for the day. but the lucky bugger can get away with it - hes 82kg and steady at that weight.
he cant seem to cook without a ton of oil - so we buy rice bran only. and he will use packets whereas we cook from scratch.
were working on him by telling him the budget doesnt allow 'fancy' stuff so he is slowly cooking more healthy

I do Zumba with my Mum but had 3 weeks off while on hols. Came back unfit & unco again but I got some great shoes for Zumba & I've got a class tomorrow night.

Palmy Zumba has a challenge on for Oct & I'm racking my brain as to what my goal should be, it's not weightloss as I'm skinny as, maybe it's to tone my tummy & tighten that excess skin or should it to be able to run 1km comfortably, or to do something physical I can show the class? I just not sure what? Something I can do in 8 weeks though.

if you came back 'unfit and unco' - maybe your goal could be an endurance thing? (like you suggested run 1k comfortably)

Date Posted: 05 October 2010 at 11:15pm
I discovered I can run so that isn't what i need. So when the intructor said about a 6 pack...I thought why not, we'll try for one of those. If I fail, I'll just take along some beer!.

The Unco bit is more about forgetting the routines. Was better tonight. Going to another class thursday night.

Does anyone know if you can hire Zumba DVD's? I'm keen to try it out, but not so keen to spend a lot of money on the DVD's only to find I wouldn't use them! Amazingly enough, they have Zumba classes here in Ohakune, but I'm too nervous to go along by myself, knowing how unco I am, and how badly I'd probably embarass myself! If I could try it out first, I may be more inclined to go along to classes with some preparation, or maybe buy the DVD's for home.

Don't know but have you tried you tube or downloading some? I was trying it out watching you tube & then decided to go to classes....I am uncoordinated but really enjoyed it....must get back into it

Whitewave, I saw the lady that takes the Zumba in Ohakune last night & she seems really lovely. She was down here at the Carols evening.

Definitely look on You tube at the basic steps stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsSrq3HBa7A - Basic steps Ones like this are what you buy.

Also Whitewave, you can get single Zumba dvds from about $10 on TM if you want to try Zumba out. Also I have found 4 dvd set Zumba on Sella for only $49!

Thanks Escadachic, I did end up buying the 4 disc set (without toning sticks) on TM, for about $60 I think it was. A good deal, I thought.
Must get back into it, I was just getting into it when I had my miscarriage, then I took a break and haven't got the discs back out since! Really must get my big A into G, and get them out again!

I usually go once a week & missed last week, far out I felt unfit on weds night when I went again! I love that I miss the class so much if I don't go, the best/most addictive exercise I've ever done.

Thanks for the kind words, Jazzy and Escadachic.
Have got so unfit now though, I really must make an effort. Have been thinking about going to a class, but still too unco with the moves (even when I was getting into it!) to do it anywhere other than at home!

I'm worried about being unco myself. But at least at home no-one gets to see that. LOL!

Yeah, go Annabelle! I figured Zumba at home would be easier than Pilates or yoga with a wee one - they can bop along too!

Ok, so like I suspected I am a bit unco. At least it's at home. Good workout though!
