As requested here is a place to give each other some ideas on what to feed our wee ones.

Post your recipes/first food ideas here

And a plug for our Nutrition Experts book. I used this book for my daughter - it's great! http://www.ohbaby.co.nz/shop/ohbaby!-expert%27s-book - What do I feed my baby?

teething biscuits

1 Cup flour
1 Cup baby rice
1 Cup fruit juice

Mix well, dough will be sticky. Roll out and cut into shapes. Bake at 180C for 20-30 minutes.

These make yummy, chewy biscuits.

Custard

150mL formula
2-3 tsp baby rice / rice floour
2 tsp golden syrup

Put rice into a small pan and add a little formula. Mix to a smooth paste then stir in a little more formula and the golden syrup. Heat over a medium heat and keep stirring while the custard thickens. Add more formula to get consistency required.

This also works with fruit puree instead of golden syrup, but less formula is needed (or more rice flour).
