Yep I would say 8 weeks is about right. Even if its just the cartilage and not actually a broken rib its still really painful. Avoid lifting- probably impossible, lol,...and hold your arms over your chest to brace yourself when u cough- or a pillow works well if they are really sore when u cough and u have time to grab a pillow! They dont do anything for broken ribs, so unless u are bedridden in excrutiating pain there probably is no point getting an xray,...and even then they dont do anything anyway,...but at least that would rule out other issues. If your only problem is pain when cough an u are otherwise fine since the accident, I'd say you'll just have to wait for it to get better.
