We are very excited to announce the winner's of our 2014 Cake Competition. We were amazed by your creativity and the high standard of entries this year, you are a talented bunch. So without further ado here are our winners.
We loved this bright zoo cake by Annalise Smith from Auckland. The double layered chocolate and vanilla cake was made for her friend's sons first birthday. It took her over 10 hours to complete which can't have been easy as she is mum to a 2 and a half year old and has another on the way. Annalise says it is the small details that can cause her the most trouble, the eyes of the animal looked a little odd and she was up to 3am the night before the party trying to get them just right. We think she did a fantastic job, we can see the care and love that went into making this cake and the result is spectacular.
People's choice winner
You voted and choose this decadent chocolate caramel mudcake as the people's choice winner. Rebecca Lingard of Morrinsville made this cake for her friend, Kirsty's, baby shower. She was given an inspiration picture and used to her creativity to design this chocolate, pink and blue baby belly cake.
The shaping of the cake proved a bit tricky with several attempts made to get the curve looking just right. Rebecca has taken lesson's in cake making and this was one of her first cakes which took her four hours to complete. If this is one of her first cakes we can't wait to see what she comes up next. What a lovely way to celebrate a new arrival.
Both Rebecca and Annalise win a $500 Nestle and Tupperware prize pack so they can continue with thier fabulous cake making.
