Phil & Ted's Alpha Capsule
There are so many baby capsules on the market place, where to start with choosing a capsule for number 3? Surely they all have regulated safety features? They are all reasonably lightweight. Most come with a base option (absolutely essential in my opinion), so how to choose?
Generally we go with what we know, so I hired the same brand of capsule I had used with the first two babies. It wasn’t until I tried to squeeze the other two monsters across the backseat, as well as being forced to sit with the front passenger seat so far forward I could barely squeeze in my legs, that I realised that any trips in the car were going to challenge us. So I set out to find a smaller capsule.
The main reason we chose the Phil & Ted’s Alpha capsule was because of its compact size. It has all the required safety features, whilst being the most compact capsule we could find at various baby shops. That is compact in both depth and width. A few centimetres here and there make a huge difference in the backseat!
My second prerequisite in capsule selection was that the capsule had a base. Bases are not essential, but they are worth their weight in gold when you are getting in and out of the car reasonably often. I can’t imagine struggling with a seatbelt just to pop into the dairy to get some milk. With Phil & Ted’s you can easily purchase a base (either Isofix or standard belt options) that is super simple to install.
My third prerequisite in choosing a capsule is that is must go onto wheels. Regardless of how ergonomic the carry handle of the capsule is, or how lightweight it is, the baby will grow and the baby will get heavier. Phil & Ted’s Alpha can fix into my Mountain Buggy with a couple of clips. It has clips available for many stroller and buggy options – some don’t even need clips, so this is worth researching as well.
Another bonus features the capsule offers is the cushy insert. Newborns need extra support around their necks, especially when they first go into capsules. The Phil & Ted’s Alpha comes with a removable insert, which can be removed easily as the baby grows. So our new baby girl was very safe and snug on her first car trip home!
