Fisher-Price and Mocka NZ donate goods to Edgecumbe disaster relief
On April 6, after days of heavy rain, floodwaters breached the Rangtitaki River stopbank and flooded the small New Zealand town of Edgecumbe.
Five months on and this small rural Bay of Plenty town is still feeling the effects of this devastating disaster as the clean up continues. Everyone in the small community has been affected, including families with young children and new babies.
Recently OHbaby! teamed up with New Zealand furniture brand Mocka and well-known toy brand Fisher-Price to complete a playroom make over. Following the photo shoot for this, OHbaby! approached these two companies to ask if they would be interested in donating the goods used in the shoot to families affected by the flooding. Both Fisher-Price and Mocka jumped at the chance to take part in gifting their much loved products to the community.
The toys and furniture were delivered to Pou Whakaaro, the Whakatāne-based agency which is receiving and coordinating donations for the the Edgecumbe flood disaster relief. Gary, who manages the donations, identified a few families who had newborn babies at the time of the flooding, and also contacted the local Toy Library so the whole community could benefit from these amazing toys and furniture for years to come.
