Winter Wellness issue 2021
And welcome to our winter wellness issue!
I hope you’re reading this with a hot cuppa, some snuggly socks and a fluffy cat or a sleepy babe on your lap. ‘Tis the season for wellbeing I reckon, and we’ve got a few tips in here to get you and your family on the right track.
Now that my daughter is nearly two, I’m finding I have a bit more mental energy and clarity to focus on me again – a wild realisation after having been totally and utterly consumed by motherhood for the last wee while. What are my passions? My hobbies? What do I want to do in my spare time? (Apart from nap and watch Friends reruns).
We all know we can’t pour from an empty cup, but it’s tricky finding time for ourselves when we’ve got little ones to look after as well isn’t it? The lovely Gretchen Carroll has written 10 self-care tips for us in this issue and my favourite one is “Do nothing and be okay with that. If you are waiting for an appointment or for the kids to come to the car, just sit... You don’t have to fill that time with something 'productive'". Total light-bulb moment right? I love her no-fuss approach to wellness – all 10 tips are easy, and better yet, free! A wonderful reminder that self-care doesn’t have to come with an expensive price tag. Check out the rest of her tips on page 120. Failing that, Emma Galloway shares five chocolate recipes with us on page 135, and if that doesn’t lift your spirits, I don’t know what will!
'Till next time,
