This year marks the fifth annual celebration of Australia and New Zealand Babywearing Week, which runs simultaneously with International Babywearing Week from the 5 – 11 October The celebration week was first launched to encourage mothers away from prams and promote the many benefits and conveniences of baby wearing, like all those lovely cuddles!
The event has grown with events all over New Zealand and Australia. And it’s no longer used just to promote baby wearing, it’s also a great way to raise funds for your community organisation. To date the event has given over $12, 000 to family focused charities and this year they have $5000 to donate. By registering and holding a baby wearing event community groups are eligible for some of the grant money.
There are four types of events you can register for Babywearing adventures, high teas and Babywearing and breastfeeding award. All events are automatically entered into the biggest Babywearing Group award. It’s a great excuse to get together with other mums and have a Babywearing adventure or a cup of tea all the while keeping your baby or toddler close.
