Especially in summer, it doesn't matter if the clothes are a bit loose for the first two weeks. Kryssi was born (and due) on 14 Jan, great date! You won't need anything like jerseys etc for a while. You could always get someone to dash out and get a few if you do have a smaller bub. They will grow out of small sizez so quick. Isla was 8lb 6 so it wouls have been a waste of $$. My sis had a tiny 4lb 13 baby, so she just got me and her mum to go get some prem stuff. Yes those are the ones the lady at the store did mention they were handy for night time nappy changes ..... (I never thought about it till she mentioned it).

OK, I think its coming together now.......Ill get some of those lil bag sleeping gowns and a couple of long sleeved, long armed all in ones (just in case)....I should be prepared for any situation.

I was presuming that Isabelle would sleep in a nappy and a singlet .. then we would swaddle her and that would keep her warm.

But you know what they say about presumption

Lol yeah only gave definitions by what my understanding is! Im no expert!
Isla was a summer baby, and she mostly lived in the dome under singlets and a nappy, day and night! Hi Busymum

Im due 14 January, so I thought it would be warm then.  I have lots of singlet type all in ones ... but I dont have any with pants as yet.

Would those cotton bag nightgowns with ties at the bottom be warm enough?

When are you due? I've had two summer babies and for the first month they mostly wore nappy, singlet that domes at the bottom (bodysuit by Kellz' definition), and swaddled. I too thought it was a great point I noted down in my layette list (no buttons at back)

If you are having a summer baby, do you still put them to sleep in long sleeves, long feet?....then swaddle? .... Dont they cook?

Good point about the buttons/domes on the back Kellz. I have a couple of NB night gowns that have buttons and domes on the back & I don't think I'll end up using them now. A bodysuit is a short sleeve singlet that domes up under the nappy,...a sleepsuit is a long sleeve, long leg all-in-one suit (I think!!).
For sleep suits, and actually any new born clothes, try and get ones that do up at the front- lots of little tops have a few buttons or domes down back- not easy to get on a floppy new-born,..and not comfy for them to sleep on!
