Poor wee chook, eczema sucks!

It looked really really sore.

Keep her nails as short as possible.

The thing that worked for us in the end was antibiotics, then strong hydrocortisone on any redness that flared up (I didn't like the thought of steriod creams but it got that bad ) but mostly trying to work on preventative measures once it was under control... like changing washing powder to sensitive or ecostore and moisturising in likely eczema patches about 600 times a day.

Aqueous cream did absolutely bloody nothing for us. Emulsifying was good as a maintenance thing but won't treat eczema. I had to stick with that tho as I couldn't afford to buy all the other lotions and potions!!

good luck!

I was chatting to her about what finally ehaled it. She said that she had tried everything and had not even been able to kiss her baby anywhere excpe the tip of his nose for a couple of months, the excema was so bad.

What she used that fixed it up really fast was a multi vitamen from the Usana range. It was so successful that she has become a consultant for them (she is a nurse). I made sure to take her card as I was worried we might have problems with our family history. Anyway, it might work for any of your excema babies and it might not. I can post her website if that is allowed and if anyone is interested? (Not sure if that would be advertising or not).

Plus it is also a good moisturiser. have heard really good things about it in our allergy group.

Or xma-ease which you can get in a red tube. Now all of a sudden at 10 it has come back up, but only only his legs so I'm guessing it's something to do with the season as arohanui said.

    Author: busymum
Subject: 10400
Posted: 01 September 2007 at 6:43pm

Briona's had excema (of the heat, not food, variety) since she was a baby and it peaked over her first summer and then settled right down. About that time she got malloscum and that is finally almost gone (yay!!). We had no real problems with the excema last summer and I presumed she had outgrown the most of it.

About a week ago her tummy (skin) was feeling a bit dry so I put on her emulsifying cream once or twice (of which we have used about 1/4 tub, so obviously not a huge excema prob here). But now she has excema on the back of her knees and she has never had it there before. Also she has a red rash on her cheeks which came up when the malloscum started clearing, I think it is excema but it might be malloscum-related somehow?

Any reason why the excema is suddenly flaring? Anything to do with the malloscum going?
