Hey its not all doom and gloom, my hubby is a SAHD too and he enjoys it, if you want another fella to chat to during the day, I"m sure he'll oblige.

yeah, mike will let you know all about his clothes-hanging system. He's a SAH dad when not studying, and i have afternoon shifts a heap so he's it. Well I say congratulations, and well done! I know a lot of guys that would never consider taking that step.

I know that in talking about our future together with my partner, he has said that he would willingly be a SAHD, so that I could continue my degree should I choose to.

Plus while we have a 6yr old in the house, he has been a SAHD understudy while I have been going to Uni and studying at night. I still get time to play with him, but Anthony structures his day and all.

Well done, and merry wishes for all the milestones and fun you have ahead. Not to make light of it or anything, I know from expreience that it isn't all fun n games, but it certainly is an experience not to be missed.

the way you feel is nothing different to what every parent has felt. me too! I really struggled with my time as a SAHM. i started studying extramurally part - time which helped give me "me" time. You may also want to come up with a time for you as you really do start to lose yourself if you are a sahp 24/7. even just 30 minutes once a week to go for a walk is helpful.

what you are going through is exactly what i went through after i left my job to go on maternity leave the first time. my identity was changing and i didnt know how i felt about it. but you know what? once you have a jammie day with your girls (where you stay in your jammies as long as you want) you will wonder why you ever want to go back to work!

It's official. I've left my job.
And now I'm a StayAtHomeDad. and I feel....

Numb.

I don't know if I should be happy or sad...i just feel numb. And daunted. yes. daunted. what's it gonna be like to be around my girls...excuse me...raise my girls for 15/5-6. I have enough trouble with 2 hours every night!

I wrote a heartfelt letter of thanks and such to my colleagues but after that it was....nothing. I was driving home thinking should I be upset at this? Should I actually try to be sad? And I couldn't. It just was. The end.
