Thanks everyone for their comments. I have to say that I have followed Sterryns example and hae bought the pack - I had planned to buy some extras as well (and the travel kit thing - I thought it could be handy)but I accidently hit the finish button before I had finished!! Whoops So I figure I'll just get them later. I absolutley loved the kit from cheeky wipes. Good on another WAHM for doing something creative.

I actually ended up buying another dozen off the same website so they all look the same with green edging. I am a bit pedantic like that
I would say that 18 are plenty though cause my wee girl is only pooing once every 8-10 days at the moment. You use less with cloth wipes though as they do a better clean up job. Having 30 means that I only have to do a wash of them every 3-4 days though. I just use some chux clothes that I cut up, they get really soft once washed. I keep them in a food container pre wet and I put a tiny bit of Tea Tree Oil in the water. I use normal wipes when out and about as I have a huge pack still to use up but once finished I will take my clothes out in my travel wipes pack. I had normal sized flannels (thinner and more worn out ones as they were easier to work with... not exactly soft tho!!) and some thinner one-sided towelling washers for all other times. Really didn't have a system. Well, maybe I did, it was just a very disorganised one of running around like a loony checking the various piles of washing around the house and then running to the bathroom and willing the hot water to come faster so my Devil Child wouldn't escape from her position on the floor and get poos everywhere when I had found a pooey nap that I didn't expect to be there.

I use small flannels that are kept dry all the time and I just wet as I am chinging the bottoms.
I just do the same when I am out as well

When Han was litle and lots of changes i had them all in an old Huggies container, already wet. Now I just wet as I go as we dont have many changes.

I have about 30 as well - mixture of FB ones (microfleece/flannelette) and soft baby flannels from the Warehouse. I have 30 little flannels from TnT that we've been using - wet as I go. I've just made 16 larger wipes with flannel on the front and sherpa on the back and another 12 with microfleece on back.
I have bought a thermos so I can just put some boiling water next to Kaleb's change table (obviously before I need it ) so I'll have warm water all day.

I have a mix of stuff... all are designed to be used as cloth wipes, most are made by someone who was using up her spare material! I bought them off her through The Nappy Network forum. The rest I bought from Claire at Wigglebums. They all are two pieces of material overlocked together.

My homemade ones are flannellette (sp?) on one side and either velour or a soft cordroy-type material on the other. Mine are from Tweedle.

We did use flannels in the beginning but found they weren't that easy too use compared with the tweedle ones and they aren't as soft as microfleece/bamboo/sherpa ones

ETA: By not as easy I meant flannels were too thick and harder to get him as clean.

Thanks for your replies. What type of wipes are you all using also? Are you (for example) just buying facecloths or making them yourselves or buying specially marketed ones? If purchasing ones designed specifically to be wipes where are you getting them from? I have a stack of cloth wipes in an old shoe box in the boys room. I have tons of tweedle wipes, cause they are nice n soft and funky.. I keep some water in a huggies wipes container and just wet them in there each time. The container is on my change table so I don't have to move anywhere to go grab the water. Yes, thats exactly what i do. most of mine are just soft baby flannels too.
