Author: Two Blondinis
Subject: 11199
Posted: 03 October 2007 at 1:20pm

I agree with Nikki. If you have no official agents in your area then get onto the Nappy Network or even on here and ask who is local and has a good range of nappies to show you. Shame you're not in Auckland as I think Emma has 2 of every nappy for sale in NZ! LOL
It's always better to hear about the pros and cons of a nappy from someone who has actually used them on their own child

As for Peapods. I've only ever trialled one and that was part of my training for being a Honey Child Agent. I really didn't like the fit on Caitlin or the hemp inserts as I found they got really smelly when wet with pee
Also, as an Agent, I've had quite a few customers buy Fuzzis or HC nappies who started with Peapods because they were cheaper but found they didn't perform as well as they had hoped, so sold them on and invested in a more expensive but better performing nappy. I've also had the same comments made from people using the Snazzi Pants fitted and whisper wrap system.

Choosing an MCN is a very personal thing where you have to look at the cost and the quality of the product and the ease of use for you. If you're having more than 1 child then look at the cost of the nappy over the nappy life of both (or more) kids, not just this baby.

We bought the Fuzzi system as we knew we wanted to have more than 1 child and we knew people that were using them on their 3rd child and they were still going strong from when they used them on their first child. So we didn't mind paying the extra as we knew we would save in the long run.
This was back when they were still the high quality USA made FBs, I refuse to sell the Mexican made ones because they are cr@p

The good thing about our Honey Child nappies is that they really are a no risk purchase, you can buy your pack of nappies (or a trial) if you find you really don't like them you can return them for a refund within 30 days, so there's no messing around with having to sell them on Trade Me

I also purchased a couple of joel-eze pockets and a couple of swaddlebee pockets and an all in one from swaddlebee. oh and a mummys touch.

At first I liked the joeleze but at the moment he seems to be at a funny size and I cant quite work out how to get them to fit right. I didnt get on wel with the swaddlebees at all!! leakes everytime!

The prefolds have been brilliant. I dont do them with a snappi (too confusing for me). I just fold in 3 and put in wrap and I found the fleece wrap so good I bout 2 more. Prefolds are the most economic I think and I am tempted to keep going with them as he gets older as it is sooooo damn easy. But I am still trying others.

I bought a bubblebub AIO and it rocks! and I am tempted by the bum genius OSFA naps.

Hope this helps. Oh and my boy was 7lb5 at birht and is now 10lb and I started using them from 1 week and they are still fitting.

I know there are plenty of women out there willing to show off naps! In fact, I'm doing on this morning

I'd not recommend a whole set of peapods. Get one or two if you are looking to try them out. And as Sterryn said, there are cheap cost effective NZ naps out there.

If you are looking for something with a proven track record, then fuzzis would be the way to go. I'd extend this to Honey Child naps as well even though they've only been out a short while as they look to be of the same level of quality (well better... but then the price tag matches that)

I really would suggest a demo and hire kit. It's not really that difficult... you sign up, they send it, you have it for around 8 weeks, use the nappies, see which ones work for you and then buy a whole lot yourself. The advantages are that by then your babe is fitting the small size quite well and you don't have to worry about getting a newborn size in between.

Hope that helps a little!

I find them all fantastic although honestly my personal preference is the fuzzis/honeychild nappies. The Tweedles are quite cost effective and you can get some great looking nappies in a choice of velcro or snaps. Check out www.tweedles.co.nz. I know Rachel has some great package deals on there as well.

Edited by Sterryn

It seems relatively easy to put them on TM if they don't suit...or here for that matter.

Trouble is, I currently have no baby (still cooking) and no nappies to see (no friends or family use MCNs) apart from the peapods. Im in Hawkes Bay so no agents or shops that have them. So I guess its sort of like buying clothes for a kid you haven't seen I just thought that their might be a few brands that are consistantly good (absorbant, good price) with a range of babies.

Does that make sense?
