Author: Chovynz
Subject: 11273
Posted: 05 October 2007 at 5:42pm

4th & 5th Day on the job.

4th day
Made macaroni cheese
Did Rose gardens
Broke shower rail

5th day
Today has been tough. I didn't get enough sleep last night and I'm kind of grumpy. This morning I was trying to listen to Hannah read one of her "Peter and Jane" books and I was falling asleep. Then I tried to get Hannah to do some of her Maths which we bought a little while ago. I haven't seen Hannah do any maths for a number of weeks and was starting to get concerned that she's taking it too easy. The problem was I didn't know where she was up to (methinks I'll get some bookmarks for her books) and we...struggled a little. She showed little interest in it and I showed little knowledge of it. I'm seeing age 5 looming on the horizon. Sigh. It looks like I'll have to sit my primary maths again.

On the other hand I can feel my health approaching normal again. And along with my health is my strength. For those of you who have read the boot camp post you'll know what that's refering to (and none of you will have read that post yet because I haven't posted it yet! Haha.) Ok, I promise I'll post that up later.

One of the things I'm really enjoying is actually being able to look into the kids eyes and seeing each one as a person, not looking at their behaviour or getting grumpy at them for the noise/mess/smells/fill-in-the-blanks. I feel that I'm really starting to learn and know my own kids, which is a weird statement to say. All of the girls have characteristics and idiosyncrasies that I didn't know where there until this week.

I'm also able to sing out loud with nobody caring if im in tune or not, or without disturbing fellow workers. In fact, my current fellow workers seem to enjoy me singing out loud, and some even dance along!

I think im starting to get a handle on working things together. I mean the timing of things is pretty important. I've figured out that I can put another load of washing on before putting the washed one out. That way the washing gets a head start. Now if I can just figure out a way of getting playstation into that time too I'll have it all sorted!

I forgot to get dinner out early again today. I pulled the meat out to thaw at 11:30 - silly me. Now we will have sausages again. Again.

I figured something out today. Instead of making a full-blown lunch for Krissy, I can just get one of the baby food cans out from the pantry...I feel silly.

Do mothers get obsessive-compulsive-hand-washing-disorders? I was trying to feed Krissy some baby food ("Alphagetti Bolognese" - how come adults don't get that stuff??) and she kept trying to grab the spoon. I used a little trick that I learned from my Wife - give the baby a spoon they can hold so they feel like they are feeding themselves. But our little Krissy is smarter than the average bear. She dropped the spoon she was holding and grabbed the one I had. I'd pick up the other spoon and carry on feeding her. Then she'd drop her spoon and grab mine again. So in the end, I had two spoons that were grubby not one.

Briona sat outside and enjoyed her lunch there - in the wind and sun. I think she's going to be a very interesting woman when she grows up.

Nothing much happened after lunch. The kids watched some videos, Teresa came home, and I had a sleep.

At least I got the washing on and out and folded and out and out and in, (in that order) today.

Yay it's Friday!

Edited by busydad
