The thing with that is people think that because you've got one cyst (like you had removed) it DOES NOT mean you have PCOS, which is probably why you weren't diagnosed with it. I initially had the syndrome (PCOS), but only a few cysts, not enough to be diagnosed with PCO. Now I have both the cysts and the syndrome (that's the acne, no periods etc). I had a lapro/hysteroscopy in 2005 where I had tendencies for endo, but now that I've become pregnant it seems to have blown up and reared its ugly head.

You can also have things that are less common, like a contracting uterus, irregular-shaped uterus etc. I have a heart-shaped one which leaves less room for bubs, and also get the blood supply cut off at regular intervals (causing that excruciating pain just like labour). This may sound like a lot, and trust me once I've had a couple of babies I would like to get a hysterectomy, but I managed to conceive in our second month of trying. It seemed that my body was just ready and my fertility specialist said that had we waited we could've missed the boat for another couple of years. Best thing, like was mentioned above, is to talk through all of the possibilities with your doctor, and if you can afford it, go private for fertility treatment when you need it. You can get in pretty much straight away and the care is so much better.

    Author: SMoody
Subject: 11517
Posted: 14 October 2007 at 1:22pm

I was diagnosed with PCOS. It is better to talk to your doctor about this. Write down all the questions you have and book half an hour with them. If they cant answer it ask him or her to refer you to a specialist.Reason why I am saying this is that each case is totally different.

You will always have PCOS. But the symptoms can be managed. It is a syndrome so not everyone has the same symptoms at all.

You are more at risk for diabetes 2 (insulant resistance) so have to watch your weight. The male hormones in your body is likely to be higher than in other females and that is why you need to keep weight in check. Lots of PCOS woman is overweight and it is difficult to lose weight but not totally impossible. Many woman find their periods come back into sync after losing about 5% of the fat they are carrying. That is due to estrogen in the fat cells. More estrogen the more of the male hormone you usually have.

You might have stuff like skin taglets, facial or excessive hair (oooh I hate this bloody one with a passion). Some PCOS woman have trouble concieving and others need to be monitored in the first few weeks to make sure the progesterone levels is sufficient otherwise you need progesterone during the first few months of pregnancy otherwise it might end up in miscarriage.

Like I said there is so many different stuff ect but it is different for everyone so therefor it is better to go through it with your dr and see what symptoms you have and what treatments there is for the symptoms itself. To go on the pill usually help regulate hormones which help the symptoms as well.

You can PM me anytime you have more questions ect but it would be better for you to talk to your dr about this. If you feel he or she isnt totally supportive get someone else.

The surgery was to determine why I get period like pain when I dont have my period and pain that triples when I do. The pain is primarily on my left side. The first surgery came back all clear for endomentritis, adhesions, orarian cysts and PCOS. Which was great but didnt answer any questions.

Surgery 3 weeks ago was better (well if you want to call it that) because they removed a cyst on my right ovary. Weird since most pain is on my left.

Anyways, my Gynae said that my ovaries and other bits looked normal and healthy. Im really nervous though that I might struggle to conceive when we do start TTC.
Has anyone had this before and had trouble conceiving? Or the opposite, where they fell as soon as they started trying?

Any feedback, advice or suggestions welcome.
