Glad to hear ella is on the mend,hope she has a speedy recovery...

Did the pneumonia flare up from a cold or something? (and no im not trying to cause offence, im asking cos i honestly dont know much about it , despite my sister nearly dying from it when she was young) is it something to do with the chest?
Hope it goes far far away soon! poor ella, and so close to christmas time (not that shes old enough to know its christmas but still )

BS so glad that little Ella is on the mend. And she should soon go back to sleep by herself again ect. McKayla gets super clingy when she is under the weather and that lasts sometimes up to a month afterwards but she soons settles again so enjoy that cuddles when you can.

I understand how you feel about the lack of sleep and good food and the age difference they put in the rooms. I remember that all to well from last month with Andrew being in hospital (I mean who puts a 3 year old in the same room as a 12 year old??). Hopefully she makes a speedy recovery.

I'm all for complaining about staff at the hospital's that got a nice one from me when Andrew was in there. Fair enough having an IV put in a baby once is horrible enough but twice WTF?!?!?!

My parents live a couple of km's from MMH and when we were in there Mum would drop off a meal to me every night!! Hi all and thank you for your thoughts and all your texts, and of course Emma for dropping Willie in it with all her kids and coming to visit!

I am ok - Ella is ok, she has lure in and arm on a splint thing that she thinks is just to hit me with! Amazing but she still uses it to hit buttons on her toys.

In short I threw a major tanty last night and got moved to a private room - kid in room with us was vomitting constatnly by 8 30pm and I sooo didnt want Ella getting that too! I have a friend who works here so she pulled strings and a formal complaint re the horrid nurse last nite was made today! Serves her right for treating me like a piece of dirt!

Anyways - Ella is sleeping like crap, I think i got about four hours last nite. Am running on empty! Of course she is normally on an angel monitor at home so not hearing my ticking was hard last nite! She has coped really well tho and like Em says is so happy and bubbly that you would not think she is sick! But two chest xrays showed the pneumonia had got worse since last week so admitted on iv she was! Let me just say you NEVER want your infant to have to have a chest xray - the tube straddle breaks your heart - i thought DH was kidding last week when he told me it was heart breaking to watch! Peoples faces out side the room when we came out said it all - they had heard Ellas screams.

Anyways - they tried to discharge us today on low dose antibiotics - NO WAY we are here to get her better not come back in a week or so - and altho DH and I disagreed on outcome we are still here and completing the iv like we are meant to! Nice of them to tell me we would be more comfortable at home - they are right but she didnt respond to low dose last time and I DO NOT want to come back!!! so IV it is til tomorrow!!!

I have discovered one of my clients children is back in here - sad long story there! and also went to visit a friend whose bubba was born at 27 weeks and whose bubba is in NICU downstairs...she was thrilled to see me despite me not being allowed to see bubba of course as i had come from the wards! But thought i would pass all the warm thoughts i had been sent to someone else who needed them too!

ok well someone is being a cling on and wanting mummy - argh I have created a monster with this hospital stay and that is a clingy child who only falls asleep on mummy! kinda nice at times tho to have a snuggly bubba for a change!

I've spoken to BS this afternoon and BBS is doing well, they're going to be discharged tomorrow on oral antibiotics after another few hours of IV antibiotics. nanny mentioned that kids are more prone to colds etc when at daycares in general,

Not that Middlemores lunch and dinners are anything to rave about    When Ash was in Kidzfirst medical for a few days (she was 5 months) we were sharing with a 3yo boy who wouldn't sit still or shut up!! Very difficult to get a baby to sleep with that in the same room! And he was in because of asthma so coughed nonstop.

Glad you got your own private room , when my youngest daughter was six she had pneuomnia and she and I were in the old Middlemore hospital childrens wards for twelve days,
I couldnt fault the nurses, they were terrific .
At least at Kidz First the parents get meals provided at Starship only the patient gets food from what I understand.

And we have moved rooms.. Got really pissed of with the F*#King Asian kid in the same room vomiting from the moment I left. I've been to visit, and I must say BBS is not doing a very good impression of a sick bubba! She was bouncing round the cot when I got there looking quite happy and using her bandaged arm (IV line in) to beat her poor Granny with! But poor BS looks shattered, I soooo feel her pain, have done my time (and more I tell you!) in hospitals and they suck!
But the verdict at this stage is 48 hours of IV antibiotics, then hopefully she will be allowed home. I'm going to try and get out there again tomorrow. Any update, Emma? I'm thinking of you guys. I was freaked out when Kryssi had bronchilitis! And don't beat yourselves up that she has got sick. She most likely just caught a cold and it developed. bug hugs to BS and BSDH. if it makes them feel any better, i was admitted to hospital with pneumonia at six months old and apparently on oxygen a lot. Emma Rose has been sick heaps this winter too -- and her babysitter only has four kids at a time. I think it's just the age they're at, when their little systems are so susceptible to everything and they're working on building up immunity. Just you wait til she gets to school, Bombshell -- her immune system will be a champion!  Meanwhile, I'm sending you lots of good vibes and get-well feelings. Hang in there and keep us posted!
