you never saw the jumper nana knitted the first time i got pregnant then! LOL it was soo funny, the sleeves were longer than the body and the colours were horrendous... I bought heaps of stuff from Baby Gap and its great - comfy, cute and well made.

I don't like the PP baby range either. I love tnt I think their quality is great. I have been very disappointed with pp quality recently actually.

Caprece wears all in ones to bed but the ones with feet never fit her I think she must be long. during the day its a bodysuit, t shirt and pants. Same with Jack. TnT have changed I got Josh and Andrew a t shirt each from there yesterday. Very good workmanship but very small sizes. Andrew just fits the size 4 and Josh is in a 1.

We don't buy clothes for the boys - all i have to do is mention that Jake has outgrown his shorts and I might pop down to the warehouse, nana goes into her spare room and pulls out (i kid you not) 10 pairs of shorts she bought 4 months ago on "special". she's a shopaholic.

nana also does card making and her spare room looks like warehouse stationary

No your not old GandT, and there are a lot of unsuitable clothing out there for girls of any age incl newborn.
I've had the same prob Tiff, gender neutral stuff is very limited.
T&T have improved a lot, they aren't as cheaply made as they used to be.

Baby Factory have nice 'baby' things and they do have good sales.

I had the same problem when looking yesterday. Baby City has some really cute gowns and strech n grows (in spots and stripes). I find T&T clothes don't go the distance anyway. The materials and sewing tend to be quite poor I find. Some things are ok though. I get lots from P&P factory shop now as the prices are good, the workmanship is good and they are so big in size that they last us forever. Elle's been wearing the same clothes since March and they are still going strong.

Its funny I dressed Charlotte up in all that stuff but this time around Kate is in all in ones and baby stuff all the way! I know that shes going to be my last so she is being a baby-ish as possible. I think she has 2 pairs of trousers and all the rest are onesie type outfits- honestly she'll probably be in onesies until shes 12

I think that its possible to look cute while baby is still comfortable- you just have to hunt around a bit harder! Plus I find PP newborn stuff HUGE! OMG 13 pairs! Elle has had 2. LOL. So deprived.

And OMG size! At 12.5 months Elle was 71cms and just under 8.5Kgs. She is super short which is funny as I'm 5"6 and DH is 6"4.

ummm i actually had to confess to the J and A lady at the show (sorry Fiona) that Miss Gabriella has 13 - yes 13 pairs of embroidered jeans in size 0 - 18 months...so dont really need anymore....but the ones she has been wearing are still my faves - and i think Katherine loves them too!

BS - I can highly recommend the Jack & Abby jeans I got at the P&C show yesterday (jeans & 2 tops for $25 ) The sizing is way off though! I bought Cailtin 6-9 months and they're a perfect fit Lovely and soft so they don't cut her in half.

and I am sure you have seen Gabriella in her little embroidered jeans and smock tops and she was still wee bubba cute! I do dress her in baby all in ones for DC a bit but I like her in jeans etc....

No offence to anyone, but the newborn PP stuff is for gifts from impractical people that have no kids

It's all very cute and we have some jeans and tops from there (all from kid-less "aunties") but it's just wrong dressing a teeny bubba up like she was 16!

I love the boys stuff from PP, most of it is pretty "practical" stuff I've found. The girls stuff does look a lil dolly though.. as a newborn we dressed Daniel mostly in farmers and baby city stretch n grows. Now hes mostly in tshirts (either long or short sleeve) and just track pants. I must admit I've always loved being able to dress Maddie in the PP type clothes when we are going out though I do like them to at least be suitable to the weather. Nope I turned 26 today and I have the same feeling - babies are best in stretch and grows. I have nice clothes like that in the small sizes (mostly 000) but that was only for going out.

I have som e little jeans (well actually they are meant to be shorts but he's too short) and other "boy" stuff for Tom and some days I dress him in that and others I like him to look like a wee bub in stretch and grows.

We mainly wear the "cool" stuff to go out when he is just sittingin his buggy and at home he sloths around in his jammys! (like his mum)

And how old are you??? I was also in PP last week and I was shocked at some of the clothes... they did have the Valour? all in ones etc but there was some pretty "fussy" looking clothes!

Maybe you should try places like T&T and Farmers... they have nice things that are practical AND cute.

when jake was born - like two weeks old - we went to visit my step-mums niece who had a little boy a few weeks older. he looked adorable - dressed in a little airtex shirt, jeans and adidas shoes - also looked cold and bloody uncomfortable. every time i picked him up, his shirt rose up in the back. the jeans were marking his waist. Oh Thank God someone else mentioned this I was starting to think I was turning into my Mum. I agree babies need comfy clothes without heaps of seams. But I really am old. I'm 38 now and was thinking the other day that if I had started earlier I could be a Nana now!!!!

I'm all for cute little versions of grown up clothes on older babies (but not skanky ones, ugh!) but I prefer baby clothes on teeny babies!

Not too old! I AGREE! The clothes look like they are for dolls are do not look comfe for a newborn! Maybe for a very special occasion but not for every day wear! Bring on the all-in-ones I say! Newborns need to be comfe and warm and P&P clothes have too many seams and ruffles etc.

You are a great age for having another baby...you are wise and yet still vibrant. Besides, if it helps at all I was just thinking the other day that you do not look your age...you have such beautiful young skin and no noticable wrinkles! I have more wrinkles and I'm only 27!

i wouldnt put a new born in that and i dont think i am old(is 21 old). i dont believe that babies shoud be dressed up as lil dollies.but thats just me.
we did have a couple of nice outfits for tash but we were given those.

I nearly burst into tears today in Pumpkin Patch.

No, not at the prices....although that could reduce you to tears...

I went and couldnt see the newborn stuff, only found one stand so asked the counter girl where the newborn stuff was...Well she took me to a couple of other stands that had pretty little (dolly sized) dresses and pants etc and i said "no the baby stuff". She looked at me like i was mad and said "this is the baby stuff" as she showed me the NB label on this tiny little shirred elastic topped dress.

I was shocked and couldnt imagine putting that on a newborn, nor the jeans they had and the other much more grown up clothes.
