Why don't people like the reserve being asked? I hate it when I get all excited cos something is cheap but then the reserve ends up being really high so I don't get it anyway.

Yeah Vanessa if Caprece was a better sleeper I'd probably be getting clucky around now lol I was crying when putting it away and ben goes "don't cry, babies are easy enough to make"

i have 2 big boxes of stuff sitting right behind me to list

it's such a pain taking the pics, writing the speal etc but it has to be done so i can buy more

rach, i get brown paper from paper plus, $4 for 10m i think...i use plastic bags first, then wrap in paper. i also re-use what packaging things i get sent are in.

I usually wrap baby clothes in one of the blue scented nappy bags to send them. Keeps them waterproof and smells great! I then put in them in either a postage paid bag or courier bag and charge between $5-$6 as well.

Oh and I have to agree with the whole reserve/buy now thing. Have you ever noticed that the people that ask you to put a buy now price on never actually use it if you do!!!!

Packaging your own would be cheaper. It depends on the weight of your packet. Upto 1.5kg can go for $3.50 anything over goes as parcel post. Nationwide you can send parcels upto 2kg for $4.75. With the prepaid bags; from memory starting at $4.95, so not a good option for clothing, maybe OK for heavy items as you could send upto 3kg nationwide for that price.

I ended up charging $4 cos it seems its $3.50 to send and the 50 cents should cover the rest. I had a look at people selling similar things and thats what they were charging. The reserve question gets me!!!!!

I pop in a plastic bag then wrap - twice - in brown paper. I once received a skirt that was wrapped only once in brown paper and it had torn by the time it reached my place. I just bought a roll of brown paper from Warehouse a while back, I was surprised how much it cost. I find most parcels I send are $3.50 postage so I charge $4 pack & post. I used to charge $3.50 but since I can, I do $4.

They didn't have to bid on your auction if they thought you were charging to much for postage.

Some people on trademe really annoy me. the nz post website has dimensions and stuff if you take a look around.

i wrap books in glad wrap first to make them water proof and then wrap them in brown paper. most things are around $3.50 to send. i dont charge extra for packageing as i dont see why i should. i usually sell quite a bit so forking out a few dollars for a roll of brown paper isnt going to make a difference.

Great thread, I have just cleared my own wardrobe out and am about to list and was wondering what to do/charge for postage. I use blacksack rubbish bags ... i just cut them and use the plastic .. then tape the address onto it, that way its waterproof.

Unless its a HUGE parcel it can go for $4.75 ish ($3.50 if its about the size of a shoebox).

Also, you could state on your auctions pick up only if you dont want to post, it just cuts down the amount of people that would be able to buy from you.

I just sent some stuff off yesterday using the bubble prepaid bags. They cost $4.80 and are big enough to fit say a DVD in, so they probably wouldn't be suitable for alot of clothes; they could fit maybe a onesie in quite comfortably... Sorry don't know how much the next size up is...

When I send clothes I always put them into any old plastic bag first. these are all good questions:) I know i don't do it the cheapest way I use bubble bags but cheaper in brown paper.. that keeps them waterproof.. but i wouldn't worry too much about that..as far as sending..it also depend show much each person buys.. what's your name on there? or do you have a list..as I'm having a boy if you have boy stuff I always need an excuse to get more stuff:)

Last night I packed up all the baby clothes

and had a wee cry that I'm never guna have a tiny newborn again and I decided I might as well sell some on trade me. The thing is I'm a bit lost with the whole packaging thing and don't have a car atm so can't go into the post shop to see how much everything is. So I have some questions to those who send stuff a lot
1)how do you package up your clothes and other stuff?
2)Is it much more expensive to get those wee bags that have the postage paid for and you just chuck everything in there and send it?
3)If you don't use those wee bags how do you keep stuff waterproof?

Probably really stupid questions but I don't want to do it wrong
