Although they are comfortable, she ended up having to buy new ones straight after her daughter was born because they had stretched from her getting bigger & because they had worn out a little by the time she actually gave birth.
To be honest I wouldn't bother buying maternity bras yet, just buy a couple of really nice supportive bras that will hold them in place and leave the maternity ones for when you will actually be breastfeeding...

Has anyone else had the problem of not finding maternity bras very supportive? It's annoying not to go shopping this time, but figured we have so much stuff from jake, we should wait and see if B2 is a boy or girl, then i can shop.

I buoght my first materinity bra just before I had Jake I think. And they are hideous. I'm going to wait until the big sales after boxing day and perhaps get some more. I breastfed for four months, three months exclusive, but this time, may continue longer as I'll be home longer. I need some nice ones.

I think the way your doing it sounds really special.

I brought my maternity bras about 3 weeks before i gave birth.

I loved reading up the duff. And read the chapters weekly to keep up with what she was writing. I read it with my second pregnancy. With my first i read what to expect when your expecting. I like Kaz Cookes much better.

Purely because it was $10 for a really nice bra! (truly hideous hot-pink colour tho - I'm just not a pink kinda girl. But given that no one special was going to see it, I didn't mind!)

Anyway... was advised to buy 2 cup sizes from my normal size and it was perfect. Had already moved up a cup size being pregnant.

So yeah, that's it. I ended up with 3 useable maternity bras (and one for when I was washing). The Bendon was the nicest by far so almost worth paying extra (or making a stop at the factory shop)

While you might only need one bra now, you will need more later as leaking boobs mean that your bra will end up smelling like old milk. Not so pleasant!

Mmmmm rambly ramble.

    Author: jax
Subject: 1201
Posted: 26 November 2005 at 10:05pm

I'm going to apologise in advance if this post gets disjointed and rambly, I've done virtually nothing all day bar some shopping and cook dinner, and I'm exhausted.

Anyway, I got a maternity bra today - my boobs are HUGE ! And yeah, I know they'll just get "huge-er" LOL

It's quite a nice one, by Bendon, in black because I didn't want a nana colored one :P It should see me right through.

So my question is, when did you ladies buy your first maternity bra? I know some people don't buy one until 6-8 weeks out from when they're due, but my normal ones were getting uncomfortable, and I figured it would be easy to invest in at least one now, and maybe another one later.

And since I can never hold back when I go shopping (well, almost never !), and because I finally found the perfect way to tell my mum, I picked up a couple of other things as well.

At Baby Factory I found these plain terry towelling newborn bibs for $2 each, and then took them to be embroidered - one with "I "heart" Grandma" ("heart" being the actual shape of a heart) for my mom, and another with "I "heart" Grandpa" for my father in law to be. It's his birthday on Thursday, so the timing could not be better !! I am of course a little nervous as to how he will react, but not as nervous as how mum might go :P I am telling her on Friday, the day after my FIL's bday.

I also picked up another book, 'Up the Duff' by Kaz Cooke. I really like her quirky sense of humor and had actually read it before. Anybody else have it? If so, what did you think?

And to top it all off, I couldn't resist these adorable little newborn booties when I was looking at bibs - they have the cutest yellow duckies on them and yellow piping with white fabric.

That's all I bought, I swear !!

I just had a nice warm bath (not too hot, I promise)... didn't stay in long as I was worried about falling asleep ! Lots of bubbles though which was nice.

Take care ladies and look forward to your responses !

Jax
