Don't worry RachandJack and 3boys you are definitely not alone!!! Ella still wakes up 2-3 times during the night wanting to be feed. All my girls were waking about that often at that age. Kryssi started sleeping through (for good) around 6mos (after solids well and truly established) and the other two didn't stop feeding in the night until they were weaned at about 11mos. But in hindsight it was either too much milk/solids ratio or a habit. So I was a little bit tougher on Kryssi.

Hey McKayla only recently started sleeping through. I totally know what you mean Anna, Cohen was really grumpy yesterday and Quinn was wanting me to play with him all day, the sling enabled me to play with Quinn and have the baby sleeping on me happily - I just can't seem to get him to sleep better at night - he still wakes 2- 3 times. I feed him each time, and pop in back into to bed - he always seems really hungry - I am just getting a little tired. Three months of sleep deprivation is taking its toll

I keep hoping that he will spread out naturally, but its just not happening.

Thought I'd add that my sling has been my lifesaver over the past two days, Kaia literally has spent about eight hours in it each day as she is so miserable and I have had no probs with being sore or anything!

And re the daycare thing, I have been blessed with a daycare that seems open to most suggestions and are very accomodating. good luck with the DC thing...must admit having looked into TOO MANY i saw none that advocated it and as a parent I wouldnt want one that chose one child over another to cart around all day like that...nor would i want child on an office lady etc just cause it needed to be in a sling.

I chose not to use one as i found them way too uncomfortable and could not imagine carting a bubba around like that past say 6-8 weeks if at all.

Briona always got the frontpack because she was a reflux baby and it was the only thing she liked. Kryssi went in the sling a lot just so I could hold the other two hands! I think I'm kinda doing half attachment parenting. He use to sleep in bed with us quite often and snuggle up on the couch with us and he definately perfers his front pack to his pram, but is now becoming more and more independent and likes to be close by but doesn't always want to be right next to me. I just follow his moods really, if he is having a good day he will quite happily go to bed in his cot, if he is having a bad day we snuggle up on the sofa for his day sleeps and then if I have stuff to do I will transfer him. I couldn't really get stuff done with the front pack on, is ok for walking the dogs etc but I found it difficult to do house work, might try a sling with number 2. He has all his night sleeps in his cot now, he did use to be next to us in his bassinet or in bed with us but is now quite happy in his own room. I always struggled to sleep properly with him in bed with us as I was constantly worrying about suffocating him, if I could have slept decently I would definately have done co-sleeping full time, he sleeps so much longer when in bed with us than when on his own.

As for comments, you will get them no matter what you do. I wont say I am 100% attachment parenting but I do about 90%. Never heard of the word until McKayla was ten months old and was funny as everyone told me aaah you are an attachement parenting mom and I was like HUH? From what planet are you.

I did have McKayla in a Kango pouch from the beginning. We did Kango care from the moment she was born. (hubby did as I was knocked out) We demandfed and structured our routine as much as we could around her normal routine. We co-slept (but not from the beginning just ended that way) and it is only now that she is off to her own bed (last 2 nights) for the first part of the night until about 2 or 3. (bit sad but guess she has to grow up)

I also extend breastfeed. To be quite honest I know it must be a bit weird to some people but hey to me it is natural and it works for us as an family unit. Grant brother was talking to me online and just freaked out when he heard his niece is still on the boob. Ha ha ha. Too funny.

I just raise her with what works in our family and what feels more natural to me. Luckily hubby is the same and we talked a lot before I got pregnant. I can just see the next kiddy is going to teach us a whole set of different rules. Mmmmm will see then.

And I also did all the housework while she was in the pouch. I will definitely look into the daycare thing - I didn't know about that. I have a good hands free sling that may make it easier but fattartsrock I think you are right probably by six months when he starts daycare he will be wanting to get out and move around a bit more.

I wouldn't call myself an attachment parenter at all. Never co-slept or wore Elle for extended periods as she simply didn't like it. However, we are still breastfeeding now at 14mths and everyone has been really supportive (to our face at least!!!). Really sad to hear you have had negative comments.

Lots will happen with your youngest before Feb so hopefully he will adjust ok by then. I did it while Charlotte was much smaller, but with a front pack and her cuddled into my chest, but when she started crawling (at 5 months) it kind of went to the wayside as she wanted to be out and about looking and gettign into stuff. I would ask on TNN, someone is bound to know over there what daycares do what things. I'm sure you will have no problems with him settlig if you "intorduce" him to the "outside world" slowly. I don't really use a sling (find them way too uncomfortable) but Caprece gets carried around a lot and sleeps in our bed most of the night (not by my choice, its the only option if I want sleep) but we bfeed on demand. I read quite a bit into when Jack was about 6 months old but by that time he was really inot floor time and already had a huge solids appetite so didn't really get into it. This time around Caprece has sort of chosen is for us and so I'm just following her lead with how much floor time she wants and how much time in her cot. A really good book to read (if you haven't already) is the womanly art of breastfeeding. Also if you look into it you might be able to find a daycare that will do attachment parenting. Another good book if you are having a bit of trouble with sleeping is the no cry sleep solution its a brilliant book.

I have only had negative comments on the breastfeeding side of things (and only bf jack for 13 months so don't know why people had a problem with it) and all I do is start listing all the benefits of extended breastfeeding. So maybe look up the benefits and say what they are when people start questioning. So baby number three has been here for three months now and I have ditched the approach that I used with the other two - mainly because it wasn't working with Cohen.

This time round I have been holding and rocking the baby to sleep,and carrying him in a sling when shopping or doing housework or playing with the other kids. He sleeps in a hammock by my bed at night (I don't sleep so well with him next to me) and does have some sleeps in the hammock during the day.

I am really enjoying this style of parenting, but man it is tiring. I wondered if there were any other parents out there doing this and how do they combine it with the demands of modern life! I am also set to go back to work part time in Feb (Cohen will go to daycare 2 days a week). I am a little worried that he won't settle in daycare to well as we hold him alot, but I have to return to work to pay the mort!!!

Also - how do you deal with the negative comments, especially from in-laws?
