I hate needles too, you wouldn't think so after 3 kids and a c/s lol.

Just what I'd do... but I'd give her a dose of pamol before going (as you would a baby) and let her know that this will take most of the pain away but not all of it... that might allow her to be a bit braver about the whole thing if she has some 'help'... and then bribe her with lollies. haha

I explained to Kiya what was going to happen, and why... we talked about the importance of them and how it was going to hurt... and I told her that if she was a brave girl I would buy her a treat afterwards. Oh, and I let her take her teddy, "to cuddle just in case, Mummy". After we left the doctors we went to the dairy just down the road and I let her choose a small reward (she wanted a lollypop) and that was it! my mum was upfront with me about my shots and stuff....and i am still terrified of the doc and getting shots, and im 21!!! although i am getting better now.....although blood tests are what really get to me as my blood doesnt really come out(at least 15 mins to get one really small vial...normally about 20-30 mins)....

I would be upfront with her, tell her why she gets them (to keep her healthy etc and make sure she grows big and strong), keep telling her she's such a brave girl and that you're very proud of her, and tell her that for being such a brave girl after the shots she can have a special treat. Maybe sit down and talk to her about it well in advance. We received a letter reminding us janaya is due for her 4 year old shots... she still hates me from the last time i took her

now, do i tell her the truth well before i take her, and drag her kicking and screaming to the doctors.. or do i lie, and spring it on her at the last minute and have her never trust me again...

the last time i took her she was a bit young to understand.. but now she is very much aware and knows how much they hurt..
