She hates being on her tummy. She can go from back to tummy, tummy to all fours, all fours to sitting, sitting to standing, standing to sitting but can't get back onto her tummy. We had to rescue her several times last night.

Hmm...I wonder how to teach a kid this age to roll that way when they take off on all fours as soon as put down on their tummy's!

It's the naps that are the issue.

I actually know far too much about baby / toddler sleep (from researching when she was a dreadful sleeper back in the days).

You know what it's like though...things are perfect then BANG it falls apart. Although you KNOW it will pass, you simultaneously fear it may last forever

She is staying up twice as long since on the iron so it's probably developmental + transition.

Her days sleeps were so lovely the way they were...3 or 4 hours of time to myself each day....ahhh. I guess it had to end at some point!

It could be a growth thing, a circadian ryhthm thing, a maturity thing. It's hard to know the precise reason but you can ask yourself a lot of questions that might shed some light on what else is going on to cause her to be so unsettled when she's put to bed.

How is her napping during the day? Is she getting enough naptime?

Is she good and tired when she's put to bed, or possibly overtired?

Do you have a consistent bedtime routine? Does this need to change to perhaps allow for more "downtime" between dinner and bed?

Is she too hot or too cold? Thirsty?

Is she showing any other signs of separation anxiety?

Another thing to do is to keep a sleep diary, noting when she goes to bed, how long she's awake/active for before sleeping, and any things that happened during the day that might be contributing to her inability to self-settle at night.

BUT...she just won't sleep. She SCREAMS when put to bed.

This may sound normal but we have seriously not had a SINLGE tear at sleep time for about 8 months so this is totally foreign to us. Up until this last week she loved going to sleep!

Is this a stage they go through or something else? She is cutting molars but is perfectly happy at night and when awake.
