Maya has super sensitive skin when it comes to sunscreen, she gets exczema even from the sensitive baby sunscreens, I used to use the Clinique one on her but at $50 a pop it was pretty pricey, esp when preschool reapply it three times a day. I phoned Plunket Line yesterday to ask what they recommend. She said the sunscreen needs to be an SPF of at least 30, and to do a test on the babies wrist. If they are going to have a reaction, it will be instant. She suggested I ask my pharmacist what they recommend for babies under 6 months. She didn't say not to use anything. Personally, I think the more protection the better! I am allergic to most sunscreens, so was concerned that Oliver could be too. I am going to buy some today, but also don't want to pay $30. We use the Nivea kids one. I know at Andrew's preschool they use the Cancer Society one - so I may get some of that when we run out of the Nivea.

I just bought some today as we are going to the A & P show this weekend, and bought the cancer society one for kids. I will do a 'test patch' on Bella first, to see if she reacts. LOL Nikki. I am the same with Samantha, hence the sunblock. She is so white she almost glows in the dark!

I was told that too kawww and so I have bought some but I am too afraid to use it and I am PARANOID about the sun on his sensitive perfect skin. I'm sure you are like me and burn easily so you will worry. At this stage I just dont let him out in the sun with out a hat and arms, legs covered. Usually he's in his buggy with shade cover on. i'd be interested as to what you find out.. we are always told both at work(preschool) and from parents not to use sunscreen on children under 1 due to allergies etc and because of the stuff that's in it.. but has that advice changed now? I do everything in my power to keep him out of the sun, but yesterday we went to Piha to visit some friends for the day (it was lovely) and even though I kept him covered with a muslin when he was in the front pack, I still worry about him getting exposed to the sun. Where can I get the BabyBaby one from?  Thanks for the suggestions

We use that Hawaiian Tropic one too and it is SPF50.
