You'll be fine. I made the appointment on a day that I knew DH had off, and then they asked him to relief manage another store out of town so he couldn't make it. I found lots of cuddles afterwards helped. Does the feeding straight afterwards still apply if they are taking the bottle? I guess I just need to be super organised and make one up to take with me. Luckily DH is coming with me, so fingers crossed it wont be too bad for me. Think I will take a cool cloth as well to pop on his leg afterwards. Thanks for all the advise.

DON'T give pamol before jabs!! As fattartsrock said, it can mask any reactions that may occur. Unfortunately, jabs are worse for parents...your bubs isn't going to remember (these early ones at least). I distracted Bella by looking and smiling at her while they did it, and then boob straight after, pamol when I got home and LOTS of cuddles. I fed Cooper before hand, then cuddled him while he was given the injections. If Oliver is getting the MenzB keep in mind that his leg is going to be quite tender afterwards. So be careful with him when picking him up etc... Our Dr adviced not the give pamol before the jabs, so I normally just give her some afterwards and we have no problems. I didn't do this after the 6 weeks jabs and she woke up about 3 hrs after we got home screaming in pain (and she never normally cries), so for the next 2 jabs I have given her a small dose of pamol and she has been fine.

As busymum said. Its worse for mum....so maybe a stiff drink??

I just gave Tom the boob straight after and the tears stopped immediately. He was pretty normal for most of the day and then kicked into a wicked temperature at bedtime. Gave him Pamol and then just kept a watch on him thru the night. He was fine. Slept well. Pamol rocks!

He was a bit grizzly the next night too. Pamol did the trick again.

We have 3 month jabs on Friday I have to do it on my own. Actually, the DR's advise NOT to give pamol first as it may mask symptoms of a reaction...

It is most traumatic for mum, so give him lots of big cuddles and a nice cool cloth on the site later on is good. Lots of pamol and cuddles after its done. And it does get easier.

Caleb fell asleep at the Dr's and was really groggy until the first one went in. I fed him straight after the shots as we had to wait around for about 20 mins afterwards. I decided to play it by ear and I found that the jabs were far worse for me than for the bubba. Have pamol ready if he needs it. Calm med I find works better than rescue remedy and it doesnt taste whereas rescue remedy tastes pretty nasty really. In our case, the jabs got easier as Ashlee got older!!! So perhaps just keep in mind that they may get easier other than that, lots of cuddles and feeds. You might find that Oliver will sleep a bit more on the day of and day after the jab.

Any advise on preparing for vacinations? Oliver gets his first set on Weds, and I was wondering about giving him Arnica spray before hand, and then using Arnica cream afterwards? Or Rescue Remedy before maybe? Any suggestions / helpful hints etc? Thanks!
