Today he slept from 9.30 till 12.30 (had to dream feed him in the middle as he was over 4 hours and I knew he needed the sleep) and then he refused to sleep for THE REST OF THE DAY!!!! Just got him to sleep in our bed now. I can make our room much darker than his at this time of night so I thought it worth a try.

I am beside myself as he is normally such a good sleeper. And yes, he is tired!!

    Author: Kellz
Subject: 12745
Posted: 04 December 2007 at 7:53pm

Having such a late afternoon nap, is obviously interrupting his bed time, cos hes not tired till much later at night. He will be getting exhausted if he keeps this up tho,....with the much shorter night sleep ( thats what happened to Isla).
I read that she shouldnt sleep later than 3pm if you want bed time at 6.30pm (supernappy article I think!)

I had to make her have an earlier am nap again, by putting her down and letting her CIO.
Its easier for them to have regular nap times if your day routiues are the same, and you are usually home when its nap times. Even if he is a baby that able to sleep in the buggy or car, they still get a better sleep at home in bed where they know what to expect, dont have other distractions etc.
I found that having a set of things we do each time before her naps really helped,....I take Isla in her room,..say its time for you to have a nap etc, shut the curtains, then we sit and read a story, she has bottle, then bed. We were doing this at night, but I wasnt preparing her for bed in the same way for naps,...but when I did, it helped.

Gee sorry for writing a book,...hopes something helps!

Edited by Kellz
