Liz we've got old style central heating in our house, with vents in the hallway and lounge, runs off gas and has an old fashioned thermostat does that sound similar to yours?

The igniter failed and the parts are obsolete, the electrician who came to have a look, said it wasn't worth fixing cause the cost of running is really high.

As for the free insulation thing, one of the guys at DFs work managed to get it as his wife's not working and they have a child under 2. I think its based on the age of the house and personal circumstance.

What type of central heating? I haver found a house I LOVE, but it is very old (renting BTW), and the tenants said the drawback was it was quite cold in winter.
