I too was gutted to be put in hospital two days after finishing work, not how I wanted to spend the time before bubs arrived! They were really strict about it too, I kept asking to go home because all I had was the high bp and could come in for monitoring easily. Weird. I hope you get some resolution soon. And I had to do that test too - it sucks! Even more so when you have to do it while staying on the ward and carrying that huge bottle back and forth up the corridor every time you pee! My favourite story is when DH's grandmother came to visit me and caught me on my way back to the room and asked 'what's that dear?' - my PISS grandma! geez! Never ask a patient what's in the brown paper bag at the hospital

I got sent home because I hadn't had flashing lights in front of my eyes. Yet, I had admitted in the lasr 48 hours to dizziness and mild headaches. Every doctor seems to have their own opinion on what is defined a case for monitoring. I know many women have it worse and they are first priority, but I was told the wards were almost empty.

And it almost seems that it's not text book with symptoms. Some women can have x and y symptoms, and not be induced, yet others could be induced for just having x. And how it comes down to someones opinion at the hospital about how really serious it is. I sometimes get self-absorbed in what I feel, and think that some of these doctors have never been pregnant before, yet I am sure they see far more serious cases all the time. I guess because it is happening to me right now, I would just like a solution.

How bloody annoying.

I had a BP of 140/98 and almost a protein +3. I also 2 over the limit for uric acid. Had moderate swelling for about 3 weeks. I had low levels of something else (can't remember). This was at my midwife appointment.

Got told to go to the hospital and it was arranged that I would be in for at least overnight for obs, and a probable induction this weekend. I even asked if I should take my hospital bags etc, and was told yes, and to bring DF out of work.

Mum drove from Te Awamutu to take us to the hospital (took her 40 mins) and we had bags packed, DF home and all ready to go. We parked up, left bags in car and headed in. Had to wait like an hour before seeing the charge midwife and doctor. Told my blood pressure was fine (not sure what it was, wasn't told) and that I could go home.

Pain in the ***. So I am home, have a 24 urine collection to do, and I bet it will amount to two fifths of **** all.

Anyways, at least I am home. I was just hoping for an induction now that I am at my due date.

I went to the hospital late last week for the same deal. My puffiness in my feet is massive, if you wanna see how bad it is, check out the numb toes thread I made just over a week ago, so nasty. My blood pressure wasn't too high, like 138 / 88, but creeping slowly. So I got sent to the hospital on an urgent referal straight away that day. I went, spent 3 hours there, being monitored, peeing (looking for high levels of protein), checking bloods etc. I got my results back and my uric acid wasn't too high. I have always pretty much had protein +1 throughout my pregnancy.

I saw midwife yesterday and she refered me to medlab for more bloods and a urine test. Just waiting on results. My next midwife appointment is Christmas Eve, but have a feeling I will be seeing my midwife sooner than expected.

I was in hospital for 3 days (I discharged as I wasn't going to be induced) and left with BP meds (which I never took) I spent the next few weeks resting and this time I listened and stayed on the sofa all day long. However at 38 weeks my bp went totally out of control and my cervix was ready and I was induced 2 days later. And once again as soon as I had Josh everything went back to normal. Highest BP I had with Josh was 170/106.

It's your Uric Acid levels that they will be looking at. Like you, I had only swelling and a high BP. I was admitted the day after my bloods came back for monitoring of both my BP and bubs. My BP continued to rise on that day so the decision was made to induce me the next day as I was so close to my due date. Sometimes they will monitor and put you on meds for it but with me there was no point.

I was so swollen it took about an hour to find somewhere they could put the epidural in but the bonus was I lost about 14 kgs in 3 days and am still losing about 1 kg every 2 days. The only down side was because fo high BP I couldn't push fro that long as it cans end your BP up even higher so after 1/2 hour of pushing had to have a vontouse and it also means you can't have a particularly active labour as you are constantly on a BP machne.

I was only in hosp for 3days after birth and 1 night before.

Feel free to PM me.

BP isn't REALLY high but it's gone up a lot compared to what it used to be, I have puffy feet/ankles, fingers and face, and protein in my urine. None of the other signs though, and as my midwife said it could just be nothing.

So of course now I'm worrying while I'm waiting for the results, and I like to be prepared.

For those of you who have had preeclampsia, did you have to go into hospital straight away? Why do you have to be admitted, what do they do in there? Did you have to be induced? How long did you have to stay in hospital for?

Also has anyone has preeclampsia without having a really high BP, but high for them? I was 110/60 at beginning of pregnancy, went up to 120/70 last week and 120/82 this week. So not over the 90 mark, which is when they start getting worried, but high for me.

I'm probably being paranoid but I just like to know what might happen if the blood results come back not so good.

TIA
