I'm glad it's all sorted. Amazing how babies bounce back...Bella is an absolute box of birds! Not her parents though, I think we may have gained a few extra grey hairs after this episode

Yay for getting it sorted, and it being nothing too serious! I did wonder if it was something dislocated, as the symptoms you described is what happens when your shoulder pops out.

I guess babies really do bounce.

You are right it is just one of those things and I hope DH isnt too hard on himself even tho I know guilt is a killer when an accident has happened. A similar thing happened to a friend of mine, she was holding her toddlers hand and the tddler tripped so she pulled her arm tight to steady her and it dislocated her elbow too. All good...we remembered last night that DH pulled her up by her arms before we put her to bed - she grizzled at the time, but we didn't think anything of it. Anyway, we mentioned it to the doctor and he said she would have dislocated her elbow as everything is loose in babies (apparently the combination of being pulled, being relaxed as it was bedtime, loose joints, and just plain bad luck) all contributed to it. So, he just popped it back in, he heard it crunch and she immediately lifted her arm and put her hand straight in her mouth! My wee Bella-boo woke up this morning with a limp, floppy right arm. Our first thought was that she'd slept on it funny and it was numb, but after 10 minutes it was still limp. She cries every time I try to lift it (and it just flops back down again) and she is not gripping with that hand (but still gripping fine with her left arm/hand).

I called Healthline, who said she should be seen immediately, so we called our after-hours doc (hospital is 45 minute drive for us). He agreed that it was unusual, and bar us physically beating her (which of course we didn't do) he thinks she may have had a seizure overnight. He said that 5% of babies will suffer a seizure to some degree and sometimes its just a one-off type thing due to all the development thats going on in the brain. That was at 8am, and it is no better, so we have to go back and see the doc again soon to see what he thinks.
