I started Kate on kind of lumpy food- soft lumps but I could never be bothered pureeing it all. Whenever you think he is ready. Yeah I don't want to end up with a child that only takes pureed food.. I'll try mashing up the watties stuff a bit more and see what he thinks in a few days.

He had banana custard for brekkie this morning. Yeah I was guna say the earlier the better really so you don't end up with a baby that will only eat pureed food. Yea I thought Watties jumped up too quickly as well. Just mash it with a fork and add a bit of warm water if you need to. If you have some mashed tins you could still give them to him just mush the lumps up a bit so they a re fine lumps.

We do have some mashed stuff, but it did look very lumpy hence why I asked cause it was the 6-7month tins.. Watties do some mashed food, which is in the 6-7 month tin, so I am guessing maybe around 7 months. I tried feeding Ella some homemade roast lamb and veges, which had a few lumps in it (not on purpose), and she had difficulty eating it so I stopped after 1 mouthful,

I think that you can begin that around 7-8 months from memory.

With the tins there I found a big dif between the pureed and the lumpy stuff - it is a big leap. I would test him first by giving him some home made pureed veges with just a few lumps in them and see how he goes. If he manages that then he may be ready to move up.

I think it's usually around 8-9 months if I remember correctly. I haven't talked about this with plunket, because my nurse who visited me last time is very "brief" with her visits which is a pain.

Daniel has been on solids since 4.5months. He really dislikes fruit but loves his veges and meat (so far beef and chicken).

He's eating all the blue tin veges and the red tin pureed stuff. But when do you start introducing little lumps etc, like mashed rather than pureed? I have absolutely no idea on this stuff!
