I got told that the plasmas have a short life span than the LCD's.I have a 32inch Sony Bravia and love it

We currentl have a 43inch rear projecter tv at the moment and its a good tv. Nothing wrong with it. We've had it for about 5 years and it goes well. I don't like how big it is but DH loves it. I really don't want anything as big next time.

We have a Sony Bravia and the best feature for me was the fact that the power and other buttons are all along to top of the unit so out of reach for Alyssa muahaha She was quite disappointed in that fact once we got it home..no more on, off, on, off, on, off...

We currentl have a 43inch rear projecter tv at the moment and its a good tv. Nothing wrong with it. We've had it for about 5 years and it goes well. I don't like how big it is but DH loves it. after googling it - yup looks like its a rear projection - I would never buy one of those IMO that is.

This is the type we have got and love it - great picture (the black doesn't look grey) stylish look.

interesting wonder what the difference is with the 3lcd than the normal lcd as it is alot cheaper (like at least $2000 cheaper) It says its a projection lcd... are they rear projection? I think the LCD are the more modern ones so to speak. MIL & FIL have got a big one and the pic is great. Wish we could afford one too but alas there are other things we need to buy/save for...

Dunno about the screen but Rhyley is always touching ours. Its more how you clean it - as you don't want to use something rough (like a handy towel ) on the screen - though think its the same for the plasma.

Good that you went and looked at what you wanted- always good to compare.

I think either one is good as the other in different ways.

lol Ann, we posted at the same time! I went today and had a look at different models - I thought the plasma had more glare than LCD aswell. But the salesman and also in the consumer test apparently the plasma have a better viewing angle and the lcd has dark shading from the side

Yeah we are heading towards a panasonic 42" plasma I think. Actually tossing up between that and a Sony 42" LCD. I've heard that touching an LCD screen can cause damage - anyway else heard of that? With a nosy toddler into everything then it might not be such a good option as we can't wall mount it.

see we were the opposite and researched about things different between the 2 and ended up with a sony 40in LCD. Plasma pixels can go and you can burn the screen (especially with gaming) Lcd you can veiw from every angel without the picture going funny - this maybe different with older lcds though. Also LCD do not get reflections on it like the plasma. My parents have a plasma and we have the LCD and i like the LCD picture better by far. So does my dad.
More companies are focusing on the lcd than plasma and I found the LCD (the better models) are more expensive than the plasma not the other way round.

We have a 42" plasma and love it.
It's a Philips, we've had it for about 2 years and it's awesome.
My parents bought a Philips LCD in the same size which is lovely, but I prefer the plasma. Even Mum commented this weekend about how much clearer ours is compared to hers.
The LCD tends to "shadow" a litte if you're watching it from an angle, whereas you can see plasma nice and clear from any angle.

we got LCD and love it, dh was the reason behind the choice and seemed to have some knowledge about these things so went with him. We've got a 50 inch LCD and it rocks. Hubby is a TV technician, and would like a plasma, but they are a bit dear atm. The diffeence is close up and sid eon the plasma picture is waaaaaaaaaaaay better, up close, like right in front the lcd pic is a bit pixilated (cos its so big, i think) but Plasma is a better pic. I think they are much of a muchness though. Dont, whatever you do, get a transonic or a DSE one, you are better buying a good brand (samsung or sony are good, as is phillips). Our TV blew up last night and of course DH has decided we should go the whole hog and buy a big TV. So we are looking at either 37" or 42" but can't decide between plasma or LCD. Does anyway know much about them or have one that they recommend? Thanks
