I just rang the Hutt Hosp and gave the paed a rark (sp?) up and they are going to see Alize within the week!!! They said they will ring with appt. I said If I dont have one by this time next week I will just come in and start something ROFL the nurse has since rang to say she is also setting an appt up with the paed dietician lol. Now why oh why did I have to get vicious just to get some health care......anyone would think I was from a third wirk country.

See if she could start a forum for allergies and in there we could also have reflux as that comes up alot when new babies and mums com along and having th topics there to find are easier than searching. And reflux,  MUST be related to intolerances and allergies somewhere

I like that idea Kels. Josh has a few intolerances as do I and having a seperate forum would be cool.

He has blue eyes. They did start change to green/grey just before christmas but seem to be back to blue and one has freakles in it lol

Im still breastfeeding lol The only reason he has soya milk is for when he goes o daycare and I go to work the rest of the time he is bfeed. I am having to watch what I eat now too as I guess what I eat will effect him but only slightly as he is only having 2 full bfeeds per day the rest is either on and off or a bottle at daycare.

SO far Alize has been fine with his new diet altho he is missing toast so I have to go and hunt for some bread he can have. I am finding the wheat the hardest to deal with, Its in everything

Mum2lucus sounds like you have SUPERMILK lol, WHat a great weight your boy is. Ekk with the solids part tho. Have you tried him with finger food like toast? sometimes they response better when they are doing it themselves.

He had an anaphalaxis to egg on nhis first birthday and we ended up bing rushed in an ambulance to the hosp. Things starting going down hill from there health wise and he was constantly sick with vomitting and diar. I was going to wait until just before his paed appt before getting the test done but the GP suggested getting it done sooner cos of his sickness.

He has had eczema since he was 3weeks old

OMG at having to live on just dairy and wheat. Can  you have red meat and veges?

I never knew that severe asthma is linked to allergies. I wish we had known sooner so Alize didnt get such bad asthma and be put onto unneccessary steroids that he is still on now.

The more i am learning about this the more there have been signs (or should I say flashing red lights) for the past 6mths that the GP should have picked up.

On Monday I am changing Alize's doctor I have decided and will get him asap to see one of my favourite GP I used to work with.

Thanks for that info Andie. I did wonder about the labels with "was processed in a plant that also uses blah blah blah. Thanks for the heads up on that. I took the girls wtih me "Alize shopping" and it took us over 2 hrs and 3 stores and we only ended up with a few things but we were all learning and teaching each other together to read the labels so I am so happy I have such helpful supportive kids. We are slowly getting our heads around it and as for Alize he is none the wiser.

Oh yeah, and in case it helps, since you're going to be scouring every inch of every label for a while...  my BIL has a partner who has anaphylaxis to nuts.  She's had it all her life, so was allergic well before they started putting warnings like "was processed in a plant that also processes products containing nuts".  She found that so many of the foods that she'd eaten without any trouble suddenly had these warnings added to their labels, and she ignores those ones and basically doesn't go near something with nuts actually in it or in the mix, but that's it.  So yep, you've got to read every label like a hawk, but also beware of the warnings put on for seemingly 'covering our butts' reasons rather than likely health risks, IYKWIM. 

Yep, GO the allergy friendly cook books for ideas!  Aw Kels, I'm sorry to hear his results were that, well, not great.  That sux for you guys.  I found avoiding wheat for Ella harder than the milk is... wheat and soy, they just seem to add those two to everything on the shelves, even shaved meats, it's crazy!!  Yep, you'll become an avid label-reader but once you know which brands are OK it saves a lot of time. 

Apart from the great stuff already said here, I found it helpful to keep a shelf in the pantry, the fridge and the freezer solely dedicated to Ella's foods, and labelled as such - that way any family members who look after her here know what's safe to feed her and what isn't.  New World have by far the best selection of allergy-friendly foods, and the one here even has Orgran Egg Replacer, which I'd previously only found in the hippie shop here.  One of the NW Metro's in Wellers had lots of everything-free biscuits, I remember.  Rice flour becomes your friend (and it puts the other kids off eating any of Alize's treats too, I'll bet ).  And last but not least... I'm thinking you're probably short on time already, so if you're baking for Alize, do a monster-big batch every time and freeze the lot so you only have to do it monthly or so!  Ella doesn't care that her muffins come out of the freezer.  Then again, neither does her daddy.  They're just desperate! 

Thankyou miss I will, its so nice to be able to talk to people who understand where you are at and feeling and suggestions are fantastic. Ooo snack food ideas will help me out a treat and ideas for food at daycare.

I didnt eat any peanut during pregnancy but that was by choice. When Alize was a newborn he got all sorts of skin conditions and reflux.  I was told he was probably  intolerant to dairy and to cut it out of my diet while bfeeding so I did and it worked for his skin. He also when onto rantitdine for his reflux. When introducing solids I stuck to fruits to start with and slowly went to veges and then he was eating our food by 9mths at which time I wasnt cutting anything out as he seemed to tolerate formula toddler milk I was giving him and yoghurts etc. But of course He had very severe asthma causing him to live on the nebuliser, be on daily redipred and ventolin 3-5puffs every 3hours. All this coming to a head on his first birthday when  he had an anaphalsis to the pavlova cake he ate and ended up in an ambulance. Since then he allergics got worse and over christmas they were at the point where he was reacting to everything.  Now we are starting at scratch again and what I would give to be exclusively breastfeeding at the moment lol

Thankyou all sooo much for all the information. It is such a daunting thing to try and get used to and having you all give me ideas has given me an awesome basis of where to start and what to do.

Kellz, I already get a disability allowance for Alize for his asthma. He was diagnosed at just on 10mths and put on preventer, while at the visit the GP gave me the forms already filled out and said drop these into WINZ as you are eligible to receive this otherwise I never would have known.

Now the GP thinks his asthma is related to his allergies and once they are well controlled we are going to try him off his beclazone, I cant wait!!
