Thanks everyone - I don't think it is waking her, I just feel sorry for her when I feed because they feel so chilly! So I guess its my worry not hers, huh?! I am always paranoid about her temperature, not wanting her to over heat but then being worried that she is too cold... The reason behind their cold hands (and sometimes feet) is that a babies circulation system is still quite immature (as you can imagine) and so doesn't function as well at keeping extremities warm like an adults would. We don't use sleeping bags but we always make sure his hands are tucked under the blankets because his hands would be freezing and then if he moved in his sleep and touched himself the sudden coldness would startle him. I don't want to use sleeping bags in winter because of this. I hate having cold hands so I don't want him having cold hands too.

Hi there.. I think that if it isn't waking her up she'll probably be fine... Some babies like being cooler when they sleep. If it was waking her then yes I'd say try a Peke Moe or socks over her hands??
Tyde has been in his Peke Moe since he was 6months and still loves it. He can sleep without it now, but I like the fact that it still keeps his hands enclosed all night.. we also have lots of mozzies up here, and he never gets mozzie bites anywhere (well he's had one of his face, but I can't particularly cover that up eh! hahaha).

I read in my thriving under 5 book (I think) that bubs hands a feet are always colder then the rest of their body. I use a peke moe for that reason. That and it was a good move away from swaddling. Jakes always had cold hands/arms and its never bothered or him or woken him in the night (that I know of). I think young bubs generally have cold hands and it doesn't necessarily mean their core temperature is cold. You can always check her temp by placing 2 fingers down the back of her neck, if she's warm there, than I wouldn't get too worried. I don't use marino ones but mine are armless ones and I have wondered that as well, cos of the heat he goes to bed in a t-shirt and nappy in his sleeping bag but at 6am when he wakes for a feed his arms feel freezing. But then the same thing happens if he has blankets so I don't think there is anyway of avoiding it.
The only thing I can think of is some sleeping bags that I saw on TM that enclose the arms as well, I think they were called pekemoe? Hi, I've just stopped swaddling my 12 week old and she is now using a type of gro bag. Just wondered if your babies get cold hands with these and what do you do? Her hands are freezing when I pick her up to feed! I know that her body is warm, but I also think if it were me I would hate having cold hands so maybe she does too?

Also, anyone using gogo merino bags and what do you think? Anyone able to compare them with grobags?
