There is no known risk to the baby and it shouldn't affect your pregnancy unless it drops below 20 (which is really REALLY quite low!) They are usually a little cautious monitoring it if it drops below a count of 80, as peachy said it is involved in blood clotting so there is a small chance that you won't be able to clot well enough without some assistance in childbirth etc. if your levels are that low.

But all in all, I wouldn't worry about a level of 100, your MW and obstetrician will be watching it a little but shouldn't be overly concerned about it, IMO.

Just before my c section they said they were still very low but safe enough for the op, so went ahead. If they went below 50 during labour I would have had to be transferred to a hospital where they do blood transfusions apparently in case I heamoraged.

Low platelets affects the way your blood can clot thats all.

It just happens to some women during pregnancy. The one thing that they did tell me was that if they drop below 100 they can't give you an epidural.
