Apparently I waited too long to introduce the bottle (9 weeks). Next time round bubs will be having both from day one.<br /><br />And the Avent teats are the ones least likely to cause nipple/teat confusion for the reasons others have said, although the Baby Factory does sell a cheaper imitation version which is just as good, as are the NUK's, coz the Avent ones are blo*dy expensive!]]>

Not only are they anti colic, they also have a big range of teats for diff ages.  try a size zero teat, although you can only use them in avent bottles, which you can get from the supermarket.  Another idea is to get a chu chu teat from your chemist, they have to work to get the milk out of these in much the same way as b/feeding.  We used these at the start.  my midwife reccomended both,for no "nipple confusion, and we do as well!  Good luck and have a great night out! (so jealous!)]]>

I expressed enough milk for her for three feeds, and he guzzled them all down without even blinking, later that night i breastfed him and he was fine, he had no probs whatsoever. But as lizzle said you may want to do a test run before you go out just to make sure because every baby is different.]]>

He was absolutely fine and when i returned to work, took to the bottle with no problem...given by others or me!  I had been given some bottles as well, and had no idea about the teats, but Jake was such a little piggy, that they were fine.  Maybe get a couple of slow ones and hubby can try them out!  What about havig a test run.  Get hubby to feed while you pop out shopping for an hour or two.]]>

Zac is 7 weeks old and has only been breastfed.  I want to go out tomorrow night but it is at the time that he has his big feed before going down at night so I am planning to feed him up till I leave and then leave a bottle with my husband to feed him with if he wakes up.<br /><br />I've read that giving a bottle while breastfeeding confuses the baby because they use a different sucking method and I've also been told to use a slow release teat.  All the bottles I've got I've been given so how do I know if they're slow release and will giving the bottle effect breastfeeding?]]>
