Hi Ladies,

Thanks for your replies. We were supposed to have a test run the night before I went out but Mark had to work late so I gave Zac the bottle in the morning and he was fine with it. And he slept the whole time I was out which was good!

I was giving Hannah one bottle a day at her late night feed. but now that she is sleeping 7 til 7 I have stopped the bottle but want to continue so I can leave her with others. i used avent too and they were really good..

Maya was a witch and wouldn't take a bottle until she was force fed one in hospital at 9 mths. Apparently I waited too long to introduce the bottle (9 weeks). Next time round bubs will be having both from day one.

We have been using both since birth, and have found that Avent teats and bottles are the best. Not only are they anti colic, they also have a big range of teats for diff ages. try a size zero teat, although you can only use them in avent bottles, which you can get from the supermarket. Another idea is to get a chu chu teat from your chemist, they have to work to get the milk out of these in much the same way as b/feeding. We used these at the start. my midwife reccomended both,for no "nipple confusion, and we do as well! Good luck and have a great night out! Hi Kim, when Xanda was 3wks old one of our family friends took him for an afternnon as i was really sick because my c-section wound was infected. I expressed enough milk for her for three feeds, and he guzzled them all down without even blinking, later that night i breastfed him and he was fine, he had no probs whatsoever. I gave Jake a bottle at 3 weeks. He was absolutely fine and when i returned to work, took to the bottle with no problem...given by others or me! I had been given some bottles as well, and had no idea about the teats, but Jake was such a little piggy, that they were fine. Maybe get a couple of slow ones and hubby can try them out! What about havig a test run. hi kim! remember, there's no such thing as a stupid question! especially in here

i gave jack a few bottles when he was young to get him use to them so other people could feed him if need be. he took to it no probs and he was breastfed til 7mths.
most teats will be inscribed on the rim underneath as to what flow they are. if you are unsure, maybe get some slow flow teats just in case.

This is probably a stupid question! Zac is 7 weeks old and has only been breastfed. I want to go out tomorrow night but it is at the time that he has his big feed before going down at night so I am planning to feed him up till I leave and then leave a bottle with my husband to feed him with if he wakes up.

I've read that giving a bottle while breastfeeding confuses the baby because they use a different sucking method and I've also been told to use a slow release teat.
