After running after my toddler, when it takes two of us to keep him happy somedays, I wonder how I will cope with 3 under 2yrs. At the mo, my DH takes the toddler for a walk in the weekends so that I can get an hour or so to sleep. That wont happen when the twins arrive! It's amazing how you do cope! Somebody told me the other day that we all will somehow cope when the time arrives - they reckoned that if we couldnt cope then we wouldnt have been able to get pregnant in the first place - somebody up there reckons we must be able to cope! i know what you mean andysmummy, i got Vincent up today and then mum arrived as i was carrying him out. luckily i told her last night, as i felt yuck carrying him! and Vincent didn't start sleep through til about 2 months ago either so i know what you mean about disturbed nights. Yeah I'm scared s%^&less as to how I'll cope! Andy has only just started sleeping well at 15 months!! Don't know how I'll manage if the new baby doesn't sleep well and I still need to be a happy mummy the next day. Or how I'll cope with the hourly feeds and still have the energy to paly with poor wee Andy. Whats harder? Going from no babies to one or from one to two?? Going to none to one was a bit of a shock! Kind of glad that pregnancy takes 9 months so that I can try and get used to the idea of having 2 wee peeps to look after.

I too am wondering how I will cope - with a 1yr old and twins due August. I guess we all will somehow manage when the time comes. One thing I did a couple of weekends ago was disappeared out of town overnight to a motel and left hubby to look after our wee boy for several reasons. Firstly to catch up desperately needed sleep and also to force hubby to learn to cope on his own with a young toddler - making meals and everything. I had a blissful weekend - watched movies, ate and slept and when I arrived home to my surprise the house was in reasonable order and a toddler (and hubby) who had survived! It's really hard at times chonny, I can't really remember how I got through it. Movies for the kids was my biggest tip, I used to set my alarm clock for 30 minutes while Hannah watched a movie and I went to bed! You have to use the toddler's sleeps for resting, not always housework. And babysitting-share helps too.

ETA: You'll get some relief in the 2nd trimester by the way

Ben took a few days off to look after Jack so I could just sleep. Even lie on the floor while Vincent is playing around you, just lying down can boost your energy up a bit. Both my Dh and I were freaking out when I was pregnant with Lily - for different things such as coping, "will I love number 2 as much?", how will we afford it etc.

But 4 months (almost) after her arrival we can hardly remember how it was before and every day is lovely if challenging I haven't found the transition as hard as I feared and Lily has just fit in with us so well!

Some days are rough but they were with just one too!!

that's exactly what makes me get through....there are the rough days when all they want to do is fight..but then watching them running around together, laughing at each other, sharing things with each other.....makes me melt

I'm one of those people who needs to be busy - If I'm not on my toes, I tend to get bored (or at least fidgety). 2 kids sounds like fun, 3 a challenge. 4? I'll see how I survive 2 and 3...

When I had DD I lived 5 minutes drive away from my Mum & Dad and Sister. Last year we moved 14,000 miles away so dont have that support this time. (but I suppose we were the one's that moved!)
