I was thinking overheating too. I would imagine it would be very harsh on the baby with those lights beaming in through your tummy.

The skin condition I was talking about is called Chloasma. Its a risk of over heating.

I used to love them but got given a bottle of Hoilday Skin and now will never go on a bed again.

I am a total sun worshipper and also love sunbeds but while pregnant I stayed out of the sun as much as possible and if i was in the sun i made sure i was near water and soaked in cool water.

Id never use a sun bed full stop, its a huge cancer capsule in my opinion
So I definitly wouldnt use one while pregnant. It was something to do with a skin rash. I can't remember what it was called exactly, I've got the info somewhere but basically prolonged periods in the sun could cause you to get a not so nice rash. I don't know whether people with particular skin types could be more likely to get it though. I would never go in one myself but was wondering if there was actually a medical reason as to why you can't.

Is there a reason you should avoid tanning (not in a sunbed but natural tanning) whilst pregnant?

I think this is a question to ask your ob/gyn or GP, but I think conventional wisdom is to avoid anything that can potentially "go wrong" -- in the case of a tanning bed, I think you'd want to be careful of getting overheated, and of getting sunburned.

I know that self-tanners like Johnson's Holiday Skin are safe to use while pregnant, so those would be a better option.

I wouldn't do it. Can't imagine that it would be good for the baby. I was told to avoid sunbathing when pg so would imagine that the same applies for sunbeds.

Was it on Sky? Does anyone know if this is harmful etc?
