Completed a BBS (open major as I could never decide what exactly I wanted to do). Before I got pregnant I was a buyer/category manager for a major stationery/book retailer and then when I found out i was pregnant left to work in a smaller business as a product development manager (basically developing and sourcing products overseas). Went back to work  part-time at the start of this year in the same role.

Qualified in social work and that's where my career's been - I haven't worked full-time in it for a while now, but keep taking these lovely short-term part-time contracts every now and then, and I love it.  I'd consider working in writing or visual art, but think some training along the lines of journalism would help first and I don't want to study full-time, or for years on end.  And I think I'll keep art as a 'me' thing so that I'll still enjoy it as a hobby rather than be pressured by a need to make money from it.  At the end of the day, I still get a fire in my belly for some social work based goals so I think I'll be a lifer! 

Journalist here, too, as you all know.  I did my BA in English and Written Communication, then worked for a consulting company as their online editor. That didn't last, so I jumped ship and went to a software company, where I wrote software manuals for two years before moving here to do my MA in English. After I got that in 2003, I worked for the University of Auckland as the Business School's web content manager. But I got bored, so I jumped ship again and landed at New Zealand Woman's Weekly as a sub-editor. Now, that was more like it! Of course, just when I started to get into a groove with work and a career path, I found out I was pregnant... and everything changed. It took a huge leap of faith to quit that job and stay home with Em -- but it was just after I made the decision to quit that a friend of a friend told me about OHbaby!, and that Emma was going on maternity leave to have twins. Luckily, they kept me on after she came back from leave -- and now I feel like I'm on the right path again, in a big way. This is exactly what I want to be doing with my life right now.

I can see myself staying in media down the line -- print media, preferably. I love the pace and the intellectual stimulation. I love deadlines... especially the sound that they make when they go whooshing past.  I think I'll also pick up the PhD study again -- I've put it on hold while I work on other projects.Mostly, I just want all of you to call me Dr Katherine.

I am a Business Analysyt / Change Management consultant, specialising in business communications and documentation. I primarily work in the health IT sector, but have worked in telecommunications also.

I have no plans to go back full time, but am able to do some work from home with the potential to maybe do one afternoon a week. (am still working that one out!!)

I worked in a call centre and I have desire to go back there again.

I'm currently working towards my teaching degree so will do that after all the kids are here.
